These five tales explore the resilience of the innocent when confronted with unbridled wickedness in its various forms.

The Last Weeping Willow: Lucinda’s longing to touch nature in a future where a tree can only be viewed in a museum leads to a shattering of everything she holds sacred.

Battle of the Marne: Taylor’s battle to cope with the reality of his father’s mysterious death steers him toward a truth more frightening than he could ever imagine.

Gonzalez House Murders: Gabriel’s quest to explore the hallowed site of his abuela’s bedtime story brings him face to face with the monster from his nightmares.

Kos-Soo-Kah's Lost Arrow: Tim’s struggle to alleviate his mom’s suffering as she faces certain death is rewarded with assistance from an otherworldly source.

Check's Mate: Bryan’s attempt to evade his tormentors sets him on a path toward a fate far worse than the terror from which he so desperately flees.

5.0 out of 5 stars Willow July 15, 2012
By Rachel
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the "Willow" story and found it very heavy for a short story. It was a little like, "Do androids dream of electric sheep". It had a lot of imagery and I really understood the world the main character lived in in just a few pages. I can't wait to finish the rest of the stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun short stories to read! July 23, 2012
By E L M
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed all 5 of the short stories. They were all so different from each other, but so interesting and satisfying to read. I love the characters the author creates. He makes his stories so believable and exciting to read. I get a little anxious to see how each story will end and I'm never disappointed. I'm ready for some more short stories. They were fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Short Stories August 7, 2012
By Brandon
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This a great book. I usually lose interest quickly with most books, but the author did a great job keeping me interested and wanting to keep reading page by page, story by story. The stories are very descriptive, but in a interesting and intriguing way VS. DULL and BORING. For most young adults, these stories can be understood easily and they can relate them to their own lives. I can't wait to read Volume II.
