I did not expect this CD to be better than the real ones.. but come on. Nearly all of the tracks sound as if they were knocked off of a synth/keyboard/comptuer. This could be a good thing... but the person (persons) playing these themes must have a tin ear.
UFO sounds as if it was from a puppet series. I-Spy is horrible. The country themes all seem to start off with the same "cowboys and cows" rustling in the background. In 3 words: A LAME EFFORT. Do not buy unless you are tone deaf. GENE

Like the CD! I like to mention as a collector of film & television soundtracks. I've been searching for this rare season number two "Theme from Space 1999" by Derek Wadsworth. It's amazing to know that this is the only made recording of that theme. Only the Barry Gray season one theme is the most popular recorded theme known to us. In respect the season two theme is what is collectable to me.

Each track a classic from the realm of make believe,

This is an outstanding compilation from a leader in the music business GNP/Crescendo Records, with some of today's greatest composers/artists, selecting tracks from yesterday and today's themes for the small tube. Each track is a classic, depending on your taste and content, this CD has it all with no holds barred.A few stand outs - opening track THE X-FILES (SPACE STATION MIX) with Neil Norman and his inspiring interpretation and performance of today's hottest Sci-Fi series ever - SUITE FROM "V" has six time winner of the ASCAP Scoring Award Dennis McCarthy in a non-stop rhythmic theme, over five minutes of pulse-setting scoring which is not available on many, if any compilations - UFO seldom heard is loud and clear by Neil Noran going immediately into SPACE:1999 II and the beat goes on - gotta love it. Hats off to Neil Norman, Mark Banning and GNP/Crescendo Records for this "Fantastic Television" venture into the fantasy world with the best of - through the ears and memories of music made for the small tube! Highly recommend this to all in the realm of make believe, and who of us are not, at one time or another. Total Time: 59:55 on 28 Tracks/ GNP-Crescendo - GNPD 8051 (1996) |
