Book Description

New Special Edition, Now Significantly Expanded and Updated (August 2012)
Book One of the Blacklight Chronicles fantasy series:

For centuries, mages perfected magic at the Order of the Dawn. Mastery over fire, wind, and storm. They live in the last free city in a world plagued by dark sorcerers.

Talis Storm and friend Mara discover a terrible secret. The Jiserian Empire has targeted their city for attack. An army of undead soldiers. Flying necromancers. None have ever survived.

When a surprise aerial invasion hits the Order's temple, Talis casts fire magic for the first time. But his spell is wild and does more harm than good. Sorcerers try to capture Talis and Mara, but they flee into the temple crypts. Awoken from an ancient rest, a fallen champion slays the sorcerers and gives Talis a legendary map, leading them on a quest to discover the lost Temple of the Sun.

To save his city, Talis must unleash the power of magic locked away inside the ancient temple, and become a true fire mage.

Sun Mage, Book Two in the Blacklight Chronicle series, is now available.
Shadow Mage, Book Three in the Blacklight Chronicle series, is also now available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fire Mage is a Great Story! November 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
For what it is, Fire Mage is a great story. Although the description is lacking a bit before you purchase the book, for the price it is hard to complain. It is a well written story, with great characters, and a wondrous world to boot. My only issue with the story is how darned short it is. I literally read this during an episode of the X factor. Again however I have to state that it was enjoyable and cheap. For those of you, like me, who prefer longer storys, I would suggest sticking to Series like The Blood and brotherhood Saga by Jeremy Laszlo, or the Mageborn series by Michael Manning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick Fun Read and Great Sereis Start! July 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was a wonderful start to a very promising series. It has all the magic of Harry Potter and the adventure of Percy Jackson. I read it in about 4 hours and really enjoyed it. The relationship between the two main characters (Talis & Mara) is written well as it shows a playfulness of friends but a promise of (I hope) romance. I would recommend reading this book it is a great start to the adventure and I will be getting the second book right now to see where our heroes head next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book...will offer to students to read July 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I received Fire Mage as a gift book to review for young readers. As a Middle and High School Home/Hospital Teacher, I sometimes need extra reading and John Forrester will be put on my list for my fantasy fans. Fire Mage was an easy read, especially for a young adult. The plot lines are solid and the characters are memorable, offering a wide range of personalities for the reader to relate to as young adults. In a more general sense, Fire Mage was a page-turner that kept you on the edge wanting to know just what was going to happen next. The exploration of the world of magic by Talis and Mara carries the story through lows and highs, family separations and reunions, along with sheer adventure. The best is the cliffhanger that drives you back for more of what is to come. Highly recommend as an adult but also as one who loves a book that will keep you turning the pages.

2.0 out of 5 stars Meh
This wasn't a very good story. Little character development and little world building. The world building would not be so bad if so many names hadn't been thrown out. Read more

This book is ok. If a story line doesn't grab me pulling me into and along with it within the first 50 pages then I lose interest. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Book
I liked the book. My only complaint is that it seemed to go very fast. I think I was done with it in one day.

3.0 out of 5 stars More of the Same
Engaging characters but too much like all the other fantasy out there. I didn't get the second book, which says something for me.
