5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved It!, May 5, 2000
This review is from: Fantasy (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my first book by Ms Manees and I must say I was really impressed! I loved the story line, falling in love on a cruise ship; I love it. Ms Manees likes to portray her main female character with a little meat on their bones. I have been reading romance novels for three years now and this was my first novel that had female phyiscal characteristic like that, I was digging it! Tony and Sameerah(love that name)had spark flying all across the room when they first met and continuned through the whole story. I'm not forgetting the other great characters in this book: the band, the twins, Tree, Izzy, oh and Ms Chantal. I was really hoping something bad would have happen to her(I know that's bad, but). It just seems something else should have happen to her, I guess not getting Tree is going to have to be good enough for me! Love the ending! Much love to Ms Manees!

I can't remember how I stumbled across this book but I'm glad that I did. This is my first book by the authour. It was a very, very good story. I read it in a day! It was sweet, tender and had it's funny moments as well. I also like how family was incorportated in this book. I definitely recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Enjoyable Novel Ever!!!, August 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fantasy (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the romance between Sam and Tony. It makes you wonder if there is such a thing as love at first sight. I got so wrapped up in this story. I couldn't put this book down. If it wasn't for the fact that I had to work, I would have finished this book in one day instead of two days. I was also so excited to read that the heroine was a full-figured women. It is always good to read a book that celebrates full-figured women. I highly recommend this book to everyone. You will not be disappointed. In fact, I want to go on a cruise even more now than I did before. Manees' writing was so vivid and clear that I actually felt like I was right there with the characters.

Being a woman of few words, I am pleased that Ms. Manees is not. Her characters are fun and the situations bright. I only wish she'd written "Dizzy Izzy's" story separately.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another wonderful romantic story, October 9, 1999
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fantasy (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Manees continues to write stories about real down-to-earth people with flaws like everyone else but who are not enslaved by those flaws (and I am NOT referring to weight here). I loved the beautiful full-figured heroine, who was as confident as she was beautiful. I really liked the way we were introduced to the metamorphosis of Tony Harmon from a philandering playboy to the mature sensitive hero of the novel, who was not afraid to reveal his vulnerabilities to the woman he loved. I also liked the part Chantal had to play. As another reader wrote, we like having somebody to hate, and she added some flavour to the antics on the cruise.

My one criticism would be that this is the kind of story which could have used some more time for developing the relationship between the two main characters. I guess the length of the book didn't permit this. But, I found that the having the whole relationship take place during the short space of time of the cruise, was a little contrived and not in keeping with the relatively cautious and practical nature of the characters.

As usual, Ms. Manees has written another sweet, sensitive, humourous and utterly romantic story which will surely thrill her audience. I still prefer All My Love (there's just something special about that story for me), but this story is still quite impressive. I continue to look forward to more novels from Ms. Raynetta Manees.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved This Book!, February 11, 2006
By
This review is from: Fantasy (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
With red eyes from no sleep, I write this review!
Yes, I stayed up all night reading this book.
I just couldn't put it down!
I loved the characters and how plus size ladies
were portrayed.
I liked the fact that Sam(the main character)
exercised and kept fit also!
Although she may have played a part in his reformation,
I believe that Tony was tired of his playboy ways
before he met Sam.
I liked the fact that Ms. Manees tied up all
the loose ends at the end of the book.
Also, although All For Love remains my favorite
of all of her books, I love the models on the cover
of this book.
They are more realistic to the characters in the book
than All For Love & Follow Your Heart.
I like the fact that the group Harmony
(mentioned in All For Love-
it's good to know what happened
to them after recording with Darryl)
and Ty & Meeko Barnett from
Follow Your Heart were mentioned.

Keep up the good work, Ms. Manees.
By the way, here's a message for you
if you're reading this review:

In the fly leaf of this book,
it was mentioned that you were working
on a sequel to All For Love to be
released by 2000.
It's now 6 years later!

Any word on when it'll be complete?

I'd love to know:
If Alex & Tiffany got together
Did Darryl and Angela win a Grammy for their song?
Did Alex win an Oscar?
Let's meet baby Bridges!
Did Sam & Bev get together?
What the story on Cortez, Stew, & Charlene?

Looking forward to more good books from you!

4.0 out of 5 stars A full-figure romance that as light as chocolate meringue, August 11, 1999
By

This review is from: Fantasy (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Manees' full-figure heorine Sameerah, a no nonsense singer/songwriter/musician is a lady (accent on the word), who is quick with the verbal comeback. Speaking of comebacks, Tony is hoping his is a success and Sam will be his. Chantal is a nasty adversary who I also pitied. The characters breathes life in Raynetta's clever hands. Ms. Manees succinctly portrays stardom as a result of hard work, full of stress and joy. Positive messages abound and is woven cleverly into the story with a flair that is the author's trademark. The cruise and Carribean settings makes me contemplate a trip even though I cannot afford a stateroom.

I read it more that once, making it a book to savor. A novel to get away from it all. Another winner by Raynetta Manees.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, not bad at all, February 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Fantasy (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Well, I gotta give it up for Raynetta Manees, this book conquered the whole "full figured" issue, and made it into a beautiful, tastefully done romance novel. You go girl! I just submitted my manuscript to Arabesque, and I hope I have the insight and same amount of success you've had. Thank you for your wonderful example of how a romance novel should be done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Girls Get Their Day, September 5, 1999
This review is from: Fantasy (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first novel I've read by this author. What a wonderful way to be introduced to her work. The main character, Sam, is a full figured woman with a positive attitude and a strong will. The issue of Sam's weight is NOT an issue to the fine brother, "Carl" Tony Harmon, or to the rest of the supporting characters. This book will hopefully show the world that big woman are also beautiful, and there are good, decent people out there who love them unconditionally...especially when it comes to the love between a man and a woman.

This book made me laugh (frequently), become misty eyed, and cheer. May there be many more books written and published about big beautiful women. To Ms. Manees, You Go Girl!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner, August 4, 1999

This review is from: Fantasy (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
The story of Sam and Tony was so much fun to read. I love that the setting was on a cruiseship, since I am getting ready to go on a cruise myself. I have enjoyed all of Ms Manees books. I love how she mixes entertainers and having them find love. I especially like the full figured Sam who could hold her own with the best of them. Please, don't make Sam have to correct you like she did Tree's woman!
