5.0 out of 5 stars Fun game with multiplayer April 26, 2013

This is really a 4 player game (same device) but there is a cpu to fill in if your playing solo. The point is to not be killed by having your ice flow blocked off where a shark gets you all the while collecting fish. When all penguins are dead the fish are counted and whoever has the most fish wins. There are no levels, just random made levels each time. You can change the size of the play board.

The game has internal achievements to gain. I also found the graphics to be cute and fits well for the game. The music is pretty basic but passable. I can see myself turning it off if I played it a lot. It also has no permissions which is a huge bonus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game for kids or adults! April 25, 2013

Hey, That's my fish! Is a strategy board game recreated for the kindle. That is simple to understand but incredibly hard to master. The cute graphics and silly sound effects make it an instant winner in my book! If you like strategy games board games or have a 7-12 year old kid who does get this game now! Great free app of the day amazon!

Has cute cartoonish graphics
Has penguins(I love their style)
Has both multi-player and verse cpu options
Easy enough for a child to play but hard enough for an adult to enjoy.
Game play is seamless
Music is pretty decent and the sound effects are fun.
No permissions! That means no digging through your personal information.

I didn't know about this app before today (the board game is great!)

Get this game now! Seriously its worth a try I am impressed that amazon put a quality app up for free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun! April 6, 2013
By KBieb
This is a simple to learn strategy game that plays fast. Each game only takes about 10 minutes, so it's great when you just have a little while to play. It is easy enough for a child or newbie to play on the easiest setting but gets very challenging on harder settings. The sound effects are good and the music is OK though just as repetitive as any other video game. It works great on my Droid RAZR M and on my Samsung tablet. Highly recommended! More please Fantasy Flight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fish-tastic Fun April 26, 2013
Verified Purchase
I can tell why this game is a best seller. It is fast, fun and colorful. The goal of the game is simple: eat as many fish as you can before a hungry killer whale eats you. But to win takes strategy and planning. You must maneuver your two penguins around the ice float gathering fish and trying to trap other players without getting yourself trapped (and eaten).

Fun, and not too hard. Great for kids or for adults who just want an amusing diversion.

The Pros are numerous:
* great user interface
* cute graphic
* games that is easy to play but takes planning and strategy to play well
* it has a tutorial, navigation buttons, and an actual Exit button.
* music and sound effects are cute and they included seperate volume controls for each

On the Con side I can't think of much wrong with this game. Give me a minute. Nope can't think of anything. Well maybe one thing. Instead of the last penguin getting eaten like the rest, I would like to see him flip off the killer whale and paddle his ice float to safety.

*** Edited to change sharks to killer whales. Thanks, George! ***

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, Animated and Similar to "Risk" April 26, 2013

This free app of the day is fun on my Kindle Fire. It has graphics with funny animations. For example, one of the penguins wears ear muffs that fly off of his head into the air when he gets attacked. The colors are very bright and eye-catching, and seem to pop off the screen. And the music is bouncy, but unobtrusive.

I'd never heard of the board game, so I can't compare the app to the board game. So far, however, the app reminds me a bit of the board game, "Risk," in which you isolate territories and try to take over the world. Instead of the war-based theme of "Risk," however, "Hey, That's My Fish!" is based on penguins competing over a limited number of fish so they can stay alive as long as possible. When they run out of fish to eat, they get eaten by the sharks. The app is also played at a much faster pace than "Risk," which can drag on for hours. So it's like a cute, animated version of "Risk." Here's a link to Risk, if you aren't familiar with it: Risk

There are a lot of game options. You can play two-, three-, or four-player games, and you can also set up any, all or none of your opponents (players) to be the computer. The skill level can be set to easy, normal or hard. The ice disappears as the penguins move around. You have to be careful not to get stranded, because the sharks are right there, waiting to feast on your helpless little penguins when they haven't got any moves left. You also get to select the pattern (or style) of the ice flow for the beginning of the game. The more difficult patterns have more blocks of ice missing at the beginning of the game. You also get to compete for achievements. As you get better, more difficult levels get unlocked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! April 26, 2013

Finally, a FAOTD that doesn't have extensive and unnecessary permissions, that is fun to play, and its free! I can easily see myself opening this app to play a round or two to kill a few minutes and before I know it an hour has gone by. I would definitely recommend giving it a try, especially while its the FAOTD.
This app works beautifully on my KF.

This is an awesome game. We own the boardgame version of this as well and the app does an excellent job of recreating that experience while cutting down on setup time. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun little game.
I enjoy this little game. It's silly with just enough strategy to make things interesting. Not a big stressor though. Not as addictive as some -- which may be a good thing.
