I bought this as a gift for a friend who is playing FF for the first time this year. I skimmed through it myself and read many parts of it. I wish there was a book like this when I started playing. It has everything a beginner needs to play and play well. It really is the perfect gift for someone who wants to learn the easy way to play Fantasy football

The chapters on scoring systems, how do I prepare for the draft and who do I start each week are priceless. Those three chapters alone will prevent 90% of the rookie mistakes many people make when learning to play FF.

One note: if you already play FF you may get a few tips from this book but you are better off getting one of the authors other books (I have all of them). Fantasy Football Tips: 201 Ways to Win Through Player Rankings, Cheat Sheets and Better Drafting is great and anyone can learn from it. Fantasy Football Guidebook: Your Comprehensive Guide to Playing Fantasy Football (2nd Edition) is for the advanced FFer.

I read this book because I thought it would give me a few ideas to enhance my rudimentary knowledge of Fantasy Football, following my not too successful initiation in a league this last fall. Wow! It gave me a lot! There are some great strengths in this book: It is written in understandable English, it explains the basics, it doesn't make leaps the reader can't follow, it gives practical strategies for drafting and setting lineups, and the author doesn't talk down to the reader, despite his clearly broad knowledge. This is a must book for a novice to the FF world, but also will be very useful for the gently experienced.

Fantasy football is a fun way to make the Sunday game all the more enticing to watch. "Fantasy Football Basics: The Ultimate "How-To" Guide for Beginners" explains the many details of fantasy football and how to get involved and play well. A knowledge of real football is needed to excel, and Sam Hendricks explains the concept well so that they can get a leg up on their competitors. "Fantasy Football Basics" is a must for anyone who wants to spice up their football fandom.
