Book Description

July 1, 2009
At night, she comes alive.but a madman's fantasies could kill her. By day, Lynn Broadmore leads a boring life as a mild-mannered bookkeeper, enduring one blind date after another. But by night, she's "Hush," webmistress extraordinaire, writing naughty stories for her adoring legion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan fiction minions. Now that there's a new guy working in the next cubicle, though, real life is getting interesting. All Jack has to do is smile, and her insides turn to goo. To her complete surprise, she might even stand a chance against the office bimbo. Undercover FBI agent Jack Edwards is on the hunt for a serial killer who trolls the Internet for victims. The trail has led to Lynn's virtual doorstep, and he's ready to do whatever is necessary to bring the killer down-including using two secret identities to gain her trust. Things get complicated, however, as the goofy fan fiction writer gets under his skin and starts staining his brain-and his heart. Distractions are something he can't afford right now.not if he's going to keep her from getting hurt in what she thinks is a safe, on-line hideaway. Because between the pixels lurks a murderer. And he's chosen Hush, his fantasy girl, as his next target. Warning, this title contains the following: Cringe-worthy graphic violence and spit-out-your-coffee humor that any woman can relate to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down!!, June 19, 2009
By

You won't be able to put down Candice Gilmer's Fantasy Girl. Whether it's the suspense-filled thrill of her heroine's escape from a serial killer or the hot, steamy sex-scenes, you'll turn page after page and long for more. A great beach read or for anyone who wants smart, sassy fiction with a wise-cracking heroine who can make you laugh and cry at the same time.

By the time you're finished, you'll feel Gilmer's heroine, Lynn, is your best friend and your only question will be: "When will her next book be out so we can read more!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Reading!!!, June 19, 2009
By
D. Lyric (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fantasy Girl (Paperback)
Combine Janet Evanovitch's Stephanie Plum and Sarah Strohmeyer's Bubbles and you'll have an idea of the smart, sassy, and sexy heroine of CANDICE GILMER'S FANTASY GIRL.

Lynn may be a sexually frustrated office worker by day, but at night she transforms into Hush, the sexiest fan fiction writer on the internet. Her private escape into fantasy attracts a serial killer's lust. Now, is the cute guy in the cubicle next to her at work the madman, the knight sent to rescue her, or the real man of her dreams?

Gilmer wraps the tightly coiled plot so the reader is constantly guessing. This is a true thriller with romantic interludes that will thrill the reader in every other way. Like a great full-bodied wine, this book is meant to be savored and enjoyed, but the page turning suspense will have you gulp it down in one sitting. A MUST READ!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Characters and Story Excellent, Writing Occasionally So-So, June 25, 2009
By
Rae R. (Washington, D.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fantasy Girl (Paperback)
I really liked the two main characters. The heroine, Lynn, is very easy to relate to (neither a witch nor a wimp) and Jack, our hero, is super sexy. The story is well paced and fun. The second time I read this book I got more from it than the first time, which is always a good thing. This is a great, light read that will remain on the short list of things to read when I need an escape for a few hours.

Despite the overall quality of characters and plot, I was occassionally distracted by the writing itself. The sentences didn't always flow as they should have. While I admire many of Ms. Gilmer's jokes and the interesting way she has of describing certain aspects of the environment which made everything more immediate, there were a few spots where I wish the editor had told her: "You can do better." I noticed the few rough patches more in this novel than I would have in one that was not so wonderful in every other regard.

I really did like this book (see 4 star rating) and am looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.
