"Welcome to Fantasy Island" - join Mr. Roarke (Ricardo Montalban) and his assistant Tattoo as they welcome their very special guests for a weekend stay that will open their eyes and hearts to reality as they 'hope' to make their fondest wishes and dreams come true. I could not believe my eyes when I saw this listed here on amazon! I had seriously given up hope that they would be releasing any more seasons of fantasy island. The first season was released years ago, but then there was no word of release dates for following season. This totally has made my night! I remember watching this show with my parents on saturday nights when I was a kid....it was a terrific show and I cannot wait to relive the memories in May when it's released. Very special thanks to Shout Factory for taking the initiative to release this season....hopefully the other seasons will soon follow as well!

Well, it only took seven years, but thanks to SHOUT Factory we have the complete second season in pristine quality with uncut prints, a veritable who's who of guest stars and very clever menu designs.

I live in Central Germany very near the former "Iron Curtain" just North of Bavaria.
It is -- currently -- snowing horribly... Ah! to be on Fantasy Island!

When I was a kid, our Irish-American family was poor. We lived in an area [E.St.Louis,IL] where the local black folks, and we, got our clothes,
and -- yes Christmas toys -- at the local Goodwill and St. Vincent DePaul's second-hand stores. I can remember fixing hand-me-down/used TVs by
checking every single vacuum tube at the local Drug Store's TV and Radio-tube-tester. Maintenance! We bought a hell of a lot of 6AU6 tubes keep-
ing our old 12" & 19" black and white TVs runnin'.

Well, anyway, today, at the ripe old age of 63, it amazes me how things have progressed. I don't think I owned my own COLOR TV until the '80s...
because I spent some of the '60s, and MOST of the '70s and '80s in the military, and I didn't have much time to sit in front of a "boob-tube".

I'm catchin' up!

It is unfortunate that most of the folks on THIS thirty-six-year-old (!!)TELEVISION SERIES have already died; but, what interested me after watch-
ing the first DVD is just how many MORE people are IN the shows than what are actually listed ON the DVDs' guest-star-roster.

AS AN ASIDE:===> Many folks have wondered why these FANTASY ISLAND Collections are devoid of any subtitles/undertitles/closed captioning; It is
because the producers don't understand what Herve` Villechaize is saying, either!...

I'm more concerned to find out how the cars --- not only are missing DOORS --- operate without AIRBAGS and SEATBELTS!

My TV -- I'm not poor anymore -- is a 55" Sony Bravia. That means that FANTASY ISLAND's "old TV" aspect-ratio television format program is a
LARGE 44", diagonal, in the center of my screen... better than my old 12 and 19" [black & white] TV sets!

The video quality is second-to-none for a program THAT old. Since the series was shot on actual camera negatives, instead of videotape, the episodes
are pristine, beautiful panoramas of the locales. Excellent! The only part of the video that DOES suck, is when the plane -- at the end of each show
-- taxis away from the lagoon. THAT, stock, film footage looks as though it was shot through cheesecloth or something... but only lasts a few seconds
per show.

I cannot overly stress how CLEAR the picture is! Through a Panasonic Blu-ray player, on a fairly large screen, there are no video flaws that I can detect...
thusfar.
I know that the EXTERIORS are filmed on some island somewhere, but, the bulk of scenes are filmed at The Burbank[Cal.]Studios.
The picture is SO clear, I can -- on a few occasions -- detect some fake grass, jungle plants and bamboo.

As a kid I enjoyed watching Fantasy Island and seeing all the guest stars and interesting stories. I think we all dreamed of going to Fantasy Island as kids and thinking how fun it would be. Watching this show as an adult it is a new perspective on the important lessons the show tried to teach us. To be able to live out our grandest fantacies are no guarentee of happiness in life. Sometimes we have more than we could dreamed up right in front of us, we need fresh eyes sometimes to appreicate what we have. The scenery is just as beautiful as I remembered! I am looking forward to buying all the seasons as they are released.
