I live on the 10th floor. The clothes dryer vent runs from the 1st floor to the roof connecting all the units in the stack. I attached the backdraft damper. The next month I paid $20 less for air conditioning. The month was July. Bravo!

My clothes dryer and my bathroom fan both exhaust out to the same 4" galvanized vent pipe. Sometimes hot dusty air from the dryer pushes through the bathroom fan and into the room. I knew that I needed a damper to prevent this from happening. Looked every where locally, Home Depot, Lowes and even a couple of HVAC supply stores. Couldn't find anyone who had a metal 4" damper for sale. More often than not, Amazon sells what you can't find at other retail stores. Sure enough Amazon had just what I needed. My problem is now fixed. The reason that I did not give five stars is that the lips on both sides, to attached to the 4" galvanized vent pipe, are rather small and you have to be right-on in your measurements. |
