This is the first time I have ever thought so much about a product that I just had to share it! My carpets have never looked better! You can really SEE the difference! The best part about vacuuming with the Fantom is the Floor Nozzle attachment that is conveniently stored on board along with a crevice and universal cleaning tool. The Floor nozzle allows you to clean in most any hard to reach area without the need to move chairs or tables. I don't have to break my back any more for the sake of a clean house! Coming a very close second is the overall power of this machine. My 8 year-old son used to have the prestigous job of picking up by hand all of the food particles that fell underneath of the dining room table that my old vacuum was not powerful enough to pick up. He is now able to retire from this task. If I HAD to pick a fault with this vacuum it would be that it is a little heavier than a lot of it's competitors, weighing in at 27 pounds. However, it is so easy to maneuver due to it's large back wheels that you hardly notice. All in all, this vacuum is well worth the pricetag!

I guess things aren't going so well for Fantom. Mine broke almost right out of the box, then upon calling customer service I discover "this office is closed until further notice". It turns out Fantom has ceased opperations effective 10-17-2001...good luck with yours.

I bought this vacuum aboot 4-5 months ago. The biggest problem I've run into is that if the 2 filters are not kept absolutely clean, the vacuum clogs. Even worse the company is now out of business. I tried getting replacement filters from my local store and they told me they can't get them because Fantom is out of business. Go figure Enron and now Fantom! So I've been left to devise my own rigged filters to keep this thing running. My wife will never let me choose appliances again!!!

The vacuum worked well for two weeks. Then I had to return the vacuum beacuse the motor burnt up. Tried calling Fantom and they no longer answer their phones.

I have the Fantom Fury, it worked really well when it was new, but now (2 years later) its really fragile. The filter has to be cleaned (w/water and air dried) every time I vacuum the floor since the vacuum looses serious suction ability if the filter(s) are not perfectly clean.

I bought a bagless vacuum so I wouldn't have to worry about the vacuum everytime I used it. That is no longer the case and is really a pain in the neck.

Go buy a hoover..!

I bought this to replace a 5 year old Fantom Thunder which I loved. At first, the Crosswind really seemed superior but after a couple of days, it quit working. Thinking it was defective, I took it back to the store and exchanged it for another one. Had the exact same problem! The store will not do anything and Fantom just sent me an email telling me how to check for a blockage. There is no blockage. There is a filter that has to be washed after nearly after vacuuming and it must be air dried for 24 hours before using again. This vacuum is a good concept but very poor design. Nothing but a pain and I have lost nearly 300 dollars on it!

The Crosswind 600XL does not come up to the usual quality that I have come to expect from Fantom. I sold my Fury and Thunder to upgrade to the Crosswind. Worst mistake I ever made! I have 1 cat and 1 dog. The Fury and the Thunder handled the pethair effortlessly. The Crosswind will only run 5 mins before the automatic shut off kicks in because it overheats. You have to wait 30 mins before it will restart. Spent the whole afternoon trying to vacuum a livingroom, diningroom and hallwy. I'm awaiting Europro's response now that they have taken over what was once a good product.

This is the worst cleaner that I have ever purchased!! It over heats constantly, needs to be cleaner after "EVERY USE", and is just a plain piece of [garbage]!!

The new 600XL Fantom Crosswind is the coolest looking and best performing upright on the market. We find ourselves looking forward to vacuuming just to see how much dirt/etc. it can pick up today. It's also great never to have to buy bags again.
One of the neatest features is the handle, it doubles as an attachment wand so there is no need to change out any connections at all when you want to use the duster. Simply press the button on the handle and the wand pulls straight out with its clear translucent hose already attached at the bottom. The clear hose itself is something that I've never seen on any other vac, very high quality.
This vac replaces our Hoover Windtunnel upright which died on us last month. The 600XL Crosswind seems to have greater suction than the Hoover did when it was new. The Fantom 600XL stows its attachments in an easier to reach place(above the dirt container)also. We shopped around for a week, until deciding this was the one after testing it out at our local vac shop. They don't sell the 600XL Model at discount stores, it's more of a high-end vac than the 200XL model that can be found at those stores.
We looked at the Wildcat but wanted the power of the 12 amp motor that was only available with this model.
The vac emits no dust at all, you smell nothing but clean air. The 40 Foot power cord means that we only have to plug the Fantom in once to vacuum the whole house.
After researching this model on the net, most all reviews we found were overwhelmingly favorable for this model.
If you get one, you'll catch yourself smiling while vacuuming because now it's fun.

Ok firt I have owned 2 different FANTOMS well kind of 3. A fantom fury and a fantom lightning and they are both still great but slowly dying after the years of labor they have gave me. the almost 3RD but it is a westinghouse wired DELUX same as fantom CW600 and I love it. It is by far one of the best machines I'v owned. yes fantom is out of business but there are plenty of carriers of fantom parts on the internet if you even need any. [which I havent] my machines have only gotten cloggeg a couple times [ONLY THE FURY] the reason for this is that I have a long haires bichon in my house and the fury was an older model [the first fantom] and I gues it was a faulty design problem that was worked out before they made they next models [thunder, lightning, cyclone xt, and all crosswinds and special editions]. I was able to unclog it by simply opening the flap in the back on the bottom and removing the hair. I belive that after all the service I have recieved from my vacuums that fantom is the BEST!!!!!!!!!
