Product Description

Amazon.com Review

The Fantom Lightning canister vacuum is a rugged, versatile, all-terrain cleaning tool for anyone who likes to take their vacuuming off-road--or at least upstairs. Designed to accommodate bare or carpeted stairways, the Lightning tackles every walked-on surface in your home and then some. It’s perfect for houses with multiple stories and a wide range of floor types. The dual-cyclone design of Fantom’s vacuum series serves a double purpose: it eliminates the need for vacuum bags and it amps up the suction. Particles and dust sucked into the Lightning spin through two nested cylinders. The vacuum doesn’t have to force the air through a bag of stored dirt, so the suction’s consistently powerful. To dispose of the dirt, simply unhook the clear collection canister and dump it--there’s no bag to wrestle with, rip, or spill. This model also boasts a certified HEPA filter that captures 99.97 percent of the particles in the air it filters and cuts down on bacteria, mold, and allergens in the home. We especially like the Lightning’s Stairhugger design for no-slip stair cleaning, its comfortable gas-pump-style handle, and the four-position power head for easy transition between bare and carpeted surfaces. The Lightning also features 12 amps of power, a 6-foot hose, an upright locking mechanism, a tool storage compartment, a dusting brush for valuables, a crevice attachment for out-of-the-way spots, and an upholstery/stair tool for furniture and steps. With a 12-inch cleaning path and an easy-carry handle, the Lightning cleans just about anything it can get its nozzle on. --Emily Bedard

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, August 9, 2001

This review is from: Fantom LC750K Lightning Canister Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
This vacuum certainly cleans your carpets however I was disappointed that it doesn't clean right to the edges and the on board tools are always falling out. Now after less than two years of use the connections are so worn that the brushes no longer rotate. Needless to say I'm very disappointed. I chose a canister so that I could clean under beds with ease. Now I suppose I'll have to make do with an upright. I won't buy this brand though (my friend did that and it lasted an ever shorter time than this one.)

This vacuum certainly has some power (when I first got it I was amazed at the amount it picked up) but it's a shame that the brush head doesn't clean right to the edge. I was continually irritated by the "on board" attachments refusing to do just that. In the end I took one of the brushes out but then of course I never used it again.

I can't reccommend this vacuum because after less than two years of use the connections are broken and the brushes no longer rotate. I can only use it for the wooden floors now.

1.0 out of 5 stars This Vacuum breaks under normal use., November 7, 2001
This review is from: Fantom LC750K Lightning Canister Vacuum Cleaner (Kitchen)
The thin plastic that connects the wand to the vacumm head breaks very easy. The company is no help. Fantom said the wand for this model is on back order and they don't know when they will have it. Now I have a useless vacuum that is only a couple of months old. Stick with an upright if you still want a fantom.
