5.0 out of 5 stars The Underrated Nelson Rangell, February 25, 2003
This review is from: Far Away Day (Audio CD)
As awesome as Far Away Day is, it is even more striking when you listen to other collections such as, "Destiny", and "Turning Night Into Day", as well as "Always."

Nelson Rangell is by far the greatest saxophone player no one has ever heard of. But every album just gets better and better. He has a range and a versatility that is unmatched. He playes alto, tenor and soprano saxophone in addition to the flute and blends them together seemlessly.

He changes tempo and inflection with ease, powering a song to conclusion one moment and lying quietly under the surface on the next. Anyone who has not experienced nelson Rangell is depriving themselves of a true pleasure.

His technical ability is unmatched, but his songs just weave you in.

5.0 out of 5 stars NELSON STRIKES GOLD AGAIN!, May 18, 2000

One of the most popular, yet underexposed jazz saxophonist of the last decade, has hit his stride with this CD. This is vintage Nelson Rangell playing some wonderful new arrangements with people that he has worked with in the past.If you have never heard Nelson's scintillating music, this is a must cd for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars True Musicianship, July 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Far Away Day (Audio CD)
I thought that Nelson had tasted perfection with Always but Far Away Day has achieved sheer brilliance. His version of Rainbow Seeker is a must have for any music lover, and "The Gathering" alone is reason enough to purchase this album. If you can purchase one CD this summer, Far Away Day is the one.

An extraordinary musician with unbelievable talents. This was my first CD by Nelson Rangell but it definitely will not be my last. The entire CD is a winner.
