3.0 out of 5 stars how to install on 64bit Windows November 19, 2012
Verified Purchase
Only tested on Win8 Pro 64 but should work with Win7 as well.

1: download "[...]" or "[...]"
if you don't trust a random file instructions on creating your own at end of page.

2: copy it to where you unpacked the game installer, next to "FC32.msi"

3: open a command prompt as administrator in that directory

4: type this substituting your target directory for "D:\GAMES\Ubisoft\Far Cry\"
msiexec /a FC32.msi TARGETDIR="D:\GAMES\Ubisoft\Far Cry\" TRANSFORMS=FC64.mst

5: if you want to run the 32bit version, move everything in "Far Cry\System32" to "Far Cry"

6:[optional] find and apply the 32->64 bit upgrade and the extra content pack

7: play

To create the mst yourself:
1: download Orca msi editor, run it, open FC32.msi
2: Menu\Transforms\New Transform
3: in the Property table, right click\add Row, name ISSETUPDRIVEN, value=1
4: Menu\Transforms\Generate Transform, save as FC64.mst

...now to get playing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game March 23, 2013

This game requires a lot of time spent which to me is good for my money. Lots of walking and exploring along with driving jeeps mixed in with battles and strategy. Difficulty level is not real high but does get a little intense once and a while. Roaming the countryside with animals running around and some attacking you is fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game February 24, 2013
By Goblin5
This game was great. The best shooter game I've played. Certain parts of the game are like a puzzle so it makes it hard to pass some levels. Plot was original.

4.0 out of 5 stars Far Cry 32 Bit OS Only February 1, 2013
Verified Purchase
I tried this when it first came out, PC Gamer magazine CD trial thing. The computers I had back then were not able to run this. It's okay, not as good as I thought it would be. Of course I'm comparing it to what is out there today which isn't fair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money and your time January 10, 2013

This game allows you to seek new adventures each time you enter. There are countless things that challenge you and with two different ways to end the game you cannot go wrong by choosing either one. FC and FC2 were good but the graphics and the variety of schemes in FC3 make it more enjoyable to play than it's predecessors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, little bit of set up required. December 26, 2012
Verified Purchase
I got this free download when I pre-ordered Far Cry 3. The game worked fine once I got it running, but it took a little bit to get moving. First, you'll see in the description it says 32 bit OS only, that means 32 Bit OS Only. It runs on a 64 bit computer but you can't install it. I had to install it onto my old computer and copy the files over to my newer 64 bit computer. After wards I needed to get the .dll files for the program to let itself run.
Those were all of the negatives, here are the positives.
The game is amazing. While it is relatively old now, it is quite possibly the best shooter I have ever played. Aside from characters having cheesy lines and moving oddly in cut scenes, the game play is solid. Also, the great thing about this game is that it gets insanely difficult, even on the easiest setting. Don't expect a breeze of a game. Expect to spend time actually figuring out enemy weaknesses and learning how to shoot a gun. Although I guarantee you'll get stressed out about certain parts of this game, the 10 hour or so ride is great. Beating it is the biggest payoff I ever felt in completing a game. I'm not going to lie, I feel like a pro for beating this.... on the easy setting...
4 stars only just because of setting up the game. If you have a 32 Bit OS read my review as a 5 star,

4.0 out of 5 stars Get the patch for 64 bit October 16, 2012
By ME
After installing but before playing, find the x64 patch on the web and install it. This game runs GREAT on my HP G62 laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. I played it when it was new and it's almost like a different game when running it in 64 bit with better hardware than I could afford back then, lol.
