...some sweet music!,
By Beth Yeshaya (Plymouth, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: "Far Cry" Live at Studio M (Audio CD)
It is wonderful to finally get the opportunity to hear Beth stretch out on her first CD! She approaches all of the songs on this recording with a powerful combination of spirit and joy, abandon and risk. At times she sounds like the late great Laura Nyro, but with a jazzier sensibility. I especially love her command of the vocalese tunes, phrasing complex passages with ease and style. Graced with dynamic arrangements by her multi-talented husband/producer Adi Yeshaya (and big brother Paul Stiller, especially on Beth's beautiful original 'Diamonds on Velvet'), she gets the chance to have some fun, take some chances and make some sweet music!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: "Far Cry" Live at Studio M (Audio CD)
I can't remember how I was convinced to buy this CD, perusing the Amazon site, but it was definitely oversold and I wish I'd thought twice. Ms. Yeshaya clearly has talent and a beautiful voice, but this album is very uneven in ways I'm not sophisticated enough to describe, but I do know something about music. She needs refinement, to settle into her own unique style so that one will understand what one is going to here. Obviously she's much loved for all the hype, but money is money. This was too much to spend when I could have bought someone tried and true.Sorry.
