For those of us who are waiting for a sequel their is hope, Linda has been ill, and has spent the last two years fulfilling existing contracts. She will be writing the sequel soon. So don't give up.......Giovanni

Great and available for free online from author/publisher!,

An excellent adventure and the character development and time travel are handled very well. I finished it in one sitting..it is that gripping! My only complaint is that that the promised sequel has never appeared. I don't hold this against the author though. It would be hard to condemn anyone capable of such a superb book. I only wish I could read the rest of this! Even if the story is never finished, I am still glad to have read it. I have hopes of someday seeing the rest of it...please don't let us down Linda! This book is available for free download (with many other great books) at BAEN's free online library in a variety of ebook formats at http://www.baen.com/library/ but there is no sequel I have been able to find anywhere yet.

Great, but unfinished,

Word to those who have not yet started this book - it simply stops. No closure, no finish. It's like reading a book which has the last few pages torn out. That said, the book really is wonderful.....it's a rare book which keeps me up till midnight on a work night. Colorful characters, riveting storyline, heart-wrenching drama. If you can handle having the book stop just when the main characters are about to ............ then give it a read. Note to Author: WARN us when it's a cliffhanger and the sequel isn't available!

Never Again,
By Grammarhawk (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Far Edge of Darkness (Mass Market Paperback)
Never again will I be drawn into the writings of Linda Evans. "Far Edge of Darkness" was an excellent book, totally destroyed by the author's inconsiderate termination of the series a the end of the first book, leaving the reader in Limbo. Since this is the second time I have experienced Ms Evans inconsiderate writing style, I will never again read anything of hers. It is obvious she had an idea, wrote what she could, then lost interest and didn't care what her readers felt.

It was a very good book,

feel free to read it....only it has no ending. At the end it says look for her next book, Unholy trinity, coming soon, or something like that. Seeing as the publishing date was '96, which is four years ago, I'd have to say the author isn't writing anymore, is dead or is taking a REALLY long time and writing a REALLy long book. Long books, unless they get dull, don't bother me, but still.....4 years is one hell of a cliffhanger (the most tv does is a week or two and at least lotsa other authors write other books in the meantime.....

Return of the Reader,
By Cyclopean "Ed" (Columbus, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Far Edge of Darkness (Mass Market Paperback)
I first read "The Far Edge of Darkness" shortly after it appeared. I had much on my plate and didn't worry about the sequel. I recently picked up my copy for a reread and enjoyed it much more than the first time. The development of characters was outstanding. The technique of switching between locales/character to weave an integrated whole and story required the reader to become involved. I'm very disappointed the sequel has not appeared, I searched for it. -- This eighty-year-old hopes he'll be able to read the sequel. I'm well aware of problems authors may run into when writing anything and hope Linda Evans can somehow make it back to this story.

Great book but no ending.
The other reviewers have it right! Don't waste your time on this one, you'll be disappointed. This is the second time I've fallen for this authors test marketing ploy. Her book "Sleipnir" is just as entertaining but also just as unfinished. You won't catch me investing any more time or cash in Linda Evans.

Very good book and entertaing; however, it stopped in mid-stream and the next book that was to take us to the end was never published. I understand that Ms. Evans became ill, but by now the new book should have been published. I'm still waiting.

Excellent novel - writing fast paced, and topic very well done. My only complaint, and it is a serious one, is that as of March 2010 the sequel to this 1996 book is still not written. I will be very surprised and pleased if it is ever written. The ending is a cliffhanger, so if you have not already read it I would not do so until the sequel comes out.
