5.0 out of 5 stars A HUGE STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!!!, September 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Far From Nowhere (Audio CD)
I can't tell you in words how much I love this album and how excited I am the things that slick shoes is doing. Any mistakes with previous album being too poppy or not up to slick shoes standard have been completely forgotten because this album makes up for everything and is THE BEST SLICK SHOES ALBUM EVER! (their last album was very good too so check it out) They did everything right on this album, and stepped it up a notch musical and commerically. The music has gotten alot better, still melodic but not so much that it doesn't satisfy the punk thirsty. The lyrics are amazing, always ending up postive in the end which is good because I'm sick of bands that only focus on negative all the time. I used to think MxPx was just a little better than slick shoes, being as I was a fan of both bands. But on Mxpx's recent album I'm dissapointed and they sound nothing like what they were before, but slick shoes on the other hand have gotten better and have not dissapointed me with this album and I'm shocked at how good it is. I think some of the change in their style might have to do with being on a new label and the lineup change, either way it's great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Different, but in a good way., August 18, 2003

I'm a huge slick shoes fan. There's not one song they have that I don't like. I like this CD very much, but you can't really compare it to their other CDs. The style is so much different than before, since they keep changing guitarists. I personally like variation and change, so this is great for me. If you like Slick Shoes and don't like change, you may not want to buy the CD. If you like change, buy it. Maybe listen to sample songs or listen to them on mp3.com. See if you like it. It's that simple. Listen to Slick Shoes. They Rock!

4.0 out of 5 stars BEST ALBUM SLCIK SHOES HAVE EVER MADE, September 22, 2003
By

This review is from: Far From Nowhere (Audio CD)
Slick Shoes is one of my favorite bands ever. This album is by far their best ever. I have liked Slick Shoes since they released their self-titled 7". It was different than most punk bands, very technical. I couldn't resist that sound. Rusty and Burnout followed suit with the technical, metal influenced punk. Then they starting switching members, and they released Wake Up Screaming and Slick Shoes which treaded edgy pop/punk boundaries. They were total disappointments compared to the masterpiece Burnout. They have totally redeemed themselves though. This new album mixes the early technical style slick shoes with 80s riffage and just a hint of the poppy sound. Not only is their a metal influence, they even have some thrash influence on here. Check out the end of Down Hill and the hidden track at the end. In an interview, they said this album would mix the old and the new slick shoes with a hint of Dokken. I don't know if their is a Dokken influence, but it has alot of metal influence in it. Slick Shoes is back with a vengeance. Maybe they will just forget they ever did Wake Up Screaming and The Self Titled.

To the guy who said this has been going on in Australia for years, all i have to say is that Wake Up Screaming was not original. It was bland just like all the other pop-punk that you can hear on the radio. Only one good song came off that album, the ballad "My Angel."
