Book Description

November 14, 2002
Ruby sees the weird swirly-coloured card on the school notice board. Audition for Life, ring ...but apparently no one else does, and her 'best friend' Lee dismisses her as just stupid - again. Ruby is shy, and thinks that she's the kind of person that no really exciting person would bother talking to. So when cool, street-wise Slate reveals that he too saw it, and he needs her to tell him what it said, when Slate also assumes that together they will find out what it's about -- that they'll make a good team - she is flattered and intimidated by this unexpected alliance. And what was the mysterious disappearing card about? What is this audition? What for? To win what? Nervously, but with increasing determination as events become more and more bizarre, the oddly-matched pair set off to investigate, and find themselves transported to a magical, tropical island where every moment is a test of loyalty, friendship and bravery.
