A Far Out Read, March 17, 2005
This review is from: Far Star (Paperback)
I was pleasantly surprised with this novel.
Avery has created a whole world--make that galaxy, where the self-serving Combine rules with a heavy hand. Settlers on new worlds like Far Star must not only work the land with few resources, they also face increasing taxes and oppression.
Dayra Smith is one such settler. Her worries are greater with her brother's father hounding her for money she took to flee his home. Coll Larren is a former Rebellion leader down on his luck. When he is stranded on Far Star, he ends up rescuing Dayra from a bad situation.
Avery weaves a tale of romance, rebellion, and self-discovery in an appealing mix. This is a definite must-read for fans of futuristic romance!
**I counted one star off for minor issues with writing technique. These are easily ignored, however I reserve the 5-star rating for novels that display excellence in characterization, plotting, and technique. I rarely award 5-star ratings for this reason.**

You fall right in to the story., November 11, 2008

I like a book that you don't want to put down. It is easy to follow, light romance and just enough sci-fi. Excellent book in my opinion.
