Product Description

Size: 5-inch Santoku

This Farberware 5-Inch Santoku Knife combines the features of a chef's knife and cleaver. The Santoku knife has indentations above the blade edge to help reduce food such as vegetables from sticking to the knife. The blade is expertly-crafted from high-carbon stainless steel for strength and durability. It also includes a sheath, allowing it to be safely stored in a drawer. Hand wash with warm water and a mild detergent; rinse and dry immediately.

I bought several extras of these, since I like the waved edge for convenient cutting of various meats to feed my doggies.

One thing great about this knife is that the wave edge is symmetrical...unlike most low-priced serrated or wave edge knives. So, this symmetrical blade cuts STRAIGHT DOWN, without the annoying tendency to curve off to one side like asymetrical serrated or wave edge knives typically do.

Also, after a month of use, I've not seen any rust develop on this knife, unlike some low-priced knives that are so-called "stainless steel", but that develop rust and discoloration after laying in the sink overnight.

Since this Santoku is just a Farberware, I am happy to use it everyday and drop it in the sink...without worrying about damage or rust that might ruin my pricy Calphalon knives.

Robt.

I did not buy this knife through Amazon, but paid about the same price Amazon sells it for.

I bought it about a month ago, and right out of the package it was not sharp enough to cut pretty much anything.

It is not worth more than $10. In fact, for me it is not worth polluting the environment with the materials it's made of. I am recycling it.

I purchased two of these knives at a different store, but it's the same knife. Like the other two reviews, the knives were extremely dull and remained so even after extensive sharpening. My good santoku (also made by Farberware but came in a set) was dirty, so I pressed on anyway, and ended up slicing my thumb open pretty deep after having to press too hard to cut an onion and the knife slipped. This has never happened with my other santoku knife, as its edge is sharp and slices through any vegetable like melted butter. I'm disappointed that Farberware allows its name on such an inferior product, but I believe that to be the big W's fault, not necessarily Farberware's.

Like the other reviewer I did not buy this knife through a seller on Amazon but just wanted anyone considering purchasing this knife to know that the blade broke off from the handle the very first time I used it.
