5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable deal...
This line has been around for generations, and it truly is a Classic. The sturdy 18/10 stainless steel can take a beating, is dishwasher and steel-wool safe, looks gorgeous and performs like a trusty battleship. The six-quart size is very convenient for a variety of cooking needs, from making chili to soup to steaming veggies in the convenient steamer insert.

Less than a week after receiving the pot, the bottom started to come apart. Little circles of aluminum were visible at the center of discolored splotches where the allegedly stainless coating was inadequate. And this without any abuse (or even going into the dishwasher). Just awful.

You quite simply can't go wrong, and for the prices that Amazon is offering, you should buy two and get one for a neighbor, or your children. They'll be thanking you for decades to come.

Less than a week after receiving the pot, the bottom started to come apart. Little circles of aluminum were visible at the center of discolored splotches where the allegedly stainless coating was inadequate. And this without any abuse (or even going into the dishwasher). Just awful.

The experience got worse trying to take advantage of the "limited lifetime warranty" from Farberware. Their 800 number is just a recording that promises you necessary information and then starts over from the top without providing any actual information. In other words, it's an endless loop promising you details on how to seek service but then looping again. Before it starts over, it suggests you try their website . . . which also has no actual information about warranties or how to get service. A complete, abismal run around.

I'm sending it back to Amazon and letting them deal with this turkey. But in general, a very unhappy experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great steamer!, June 18, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Farberware Classic Stainless Stock Pot with Lid & Steamer Insert 6 Qt.
I bought this pot to use for pasta, but soon discovered that it's the perfect size for steaming clams. The pot is deep and the steamer sits on top giving you plenty of room for liquids underneath. Previous steamers I have owned always have the steamer compartment sitting so close to the bottom of the pot you end up boiling the stuff in the bottom of the basket. The pot is nice and thick and cooks evenly. I frequently use it when making sauce and soups. During the summer I would normally use my big outdoor pot for doing clams, but this pot is the perfect size for two dozen or so (littlnecks). In the time it takes to eat the first batch, the second are already done. It's a manageable size for cleaning and stores nicely with my other pots.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great Steamer!! Get one before it gone!, December 26, 2003

I boiled and steamed food at the same time!
What a wonderful piece!
The set is very solid and well made!
Although it is dishwasher safe, but cleaning up by hand is not hard at all!
Don't even mention the great price!
I am going to get more for my loved ones!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your Mother's Farberware..., February 15, 2004

But perhaps better...

I bought this, the "cute as a button" 3 qt. stock/sauce pan and the 16 qt. stock pot at approximately the same time. The quality appears excellent, and the extra heavy base is completely flat, and distributes heat wonderfully.

I came shopping for the large pot, since it was time to replace the aluminum one I had been making beer in for 15 years, and thought it time to get a stainless version. While I was here, I got this and the other. I couldn't be more pleased..

Each has been used and has performed even better than expected.

I have a mish-mash of different cookware, purchased individually, because not all pans in any set are equal... These stock pots rank right up there with the more expensive brand names - and surpass some...

;0))

PK is a happy camper!

3.0 out of 5 stars Lifetime Warranty... I don't think so!, September 29, 2004

This review is from: Farberware Classic Stainless Stock Pot with Lid & Steamer Insert 6 Qt.
I ordered two of the Farberware stockpots, one for me, the other for my son. I opened the first one and was displeased with the way the "snug" fitting lid fit the insert. I promptly called Farberware. I didn't have any trouble getting through to a live person, however, I was cut off after being put on hold for an extended period of time. When I called back, I was transferred to the person I was originally talking to. It was then that I was courteously informed that I would have to return my purchase to Amazon because they didn't have any inserts to replace the defective one. Fortunately, Amazon handled the return extremely efficiently, but how can one get satisfaction from Farberware for the guarantee against defects when the part isn't even available? Now, in Farberware's defense, the second pot was just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOTHING BEATS FARBERWARE!, July 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Farberware Classic Stainless Stock Pot with Lid & Steamer Insert 6 Qt.
Close to 50 yrs. ago when I got married, I purchased Farberware pots, pans and skillets on the advice of a friend. Still have my originals, in good working order. Since then, have added pieces as were needed. Have purchased cookware from other makers here and there, waste of money. Simply did not compare to Farberware. Not only did I purchase this stockpot for myself, also got my daughter and son one. They are just as pleased as I am. Ten years ago, I purchased a Teflon coated cookware set for my son, from one of the pricier department stores. He thought Teflon was "cool." Changed his mind after 6 months, set was a mess. Replaced it with Farberware... Buy with confidence, can't go wrong with FARBERWARE, no matter which piece(s) you choose!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Sleazy Practices, December 5, 2003
By
This review is from: Farberware Classic Stainless Stock Pot with Lid & Steamer Insert 6 Qt.
Beware of so-called Amazon rebates. They are phony and will never materialize. I am still waiting after three months for my $50 rebate in Kitchen & Houseware. Amazon now refuses to reply.
Sleazy.
