5.0 out of 5 stars Great Teakettle
This was a great teakettle for a very low price. The quality is very good. Throw away that old one and get yourself a new one!

2.0 out of 5 stars Stylish but cumbersome, January 26, 2005
This review is from: Farberware Classic Sonoma Satin 2-1/2-Quart Stainless Steel Whistling Teakettle (Kitchen)
This teakettle is stylish, easy to fill and clean, reasonably priced, and whistles loudly - but only someone with a large hand can safely pour the entire contents of the kettle one-handed. The trigger, which opens the spring-loaded whistle cap, requires a second hand to hold it open while pouring more than a cup or two. After struggling with this kettle for several weeks, I decided that the safety factor was too important to ignore and bought a new kettle with a flip-top whistle cap which stays open while I pour one-handed.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK Kettle, February 24, 2006

For the price of about $12 I received very good value. My biggest complaint is it is hard to fill. I am suspect about the longevity of the spring loaded spout-opening mechanism, but that is yet to be seen. It does smudge easily and since I keep mine on the stove it must be washed after each usage, which I'm not crazy about. Again, it's easy to find fault. All in all the kettle is definately worth the low price.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love it, August 31, 2006

I really like this kettle. It's very attractive looking. I find a quick wipe with a papertowel removes the smudges.

I think this is fanatastic for the money.

My only complaint is the spring loaded spout is a bit hard to open. I don't have trouble pouring from it or needing two hands like someone else said. It's easy enough.

2.0 out of 5 stars Get Farberware 'Tiburon' instead, June 14, 2007
This review is from: Farberware Classic Sonoma Satin 2-1/2-Quart Stainless Steel Whistling Teakettle (Kitchen)
Farberware 'Sonoma' has two bad design features: 1) the spout lid does not lock in the open position so you can't turn off the whistle, and 2) the spout lid does not open widely enough to let you fill the kettle through the spout - you have to remove the cover to do it, thus steaming the hand you're holding the handle with.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk, January 21, 2006

I bought a Farberware Kettle. The boiled water had black specs in it. No amount of cleaning ever made it come out with water as clean as went into it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great stainless-steel whistling teapot!, February 24, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Farberware Classic Sonoma Satin 2-1/2-Quart Stainless Steel Whistling Teakettle (Kitchen)
I like using this teapot, though I have other ones too. They take the place of a large electric water urn, and this teapot is easier to use for my needs at this time. I have bought a couple of this same teapot, one for my own needs and I have given one away as a gift. The price was good and the teapot is helpful. Not only is it useful in helping me prepare tea, coffee and/or cocoa, it also is helpful to use when I need hot water to pour into other pots while cooking on the stove. It helps me prepare recipes which need hot water. I also prepare hot water for storage in the Thermos Bottles to conveniently use at a later time.

Occasionally, when needed, we use the hot water from this teapot to pour into a cup and then into a Hot-Water Bottle to use for medicinal purposes, as in helping to sooth achey varicose veins in the legs while going to sleep or anytime of the day it may be needed. We usually wrap the filled Hot-Water Bottle with a towel to absorb any water that might be on the outside, as well as to cushion the heat somewhat so that it is not too hot on the skin. This method of using the teapot's hot water is usually faster than waiting for the kitchen sink's faucet to have the very hot water to flow out, especially during the late night hours!

This Faberware teapot cleans well on the outside with mild dishwashing detergent or baking soda. For the inside, I merely rinse it through with cold water in between boiling up again. If the boiled water should develop a mineral taste, I would sprinkle some baking soda inside water in this teapot and swish it around, then rinse it out with cold water. This method usually solves the problem. Use it in good health!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tea Kettle, May 15, 2008

This is a fantastic tea kettle. There's nothing wrong with it. The whistle is just right. It replaced an Ikea one and the first time I heard it, I thought there was a tornado warning going off. I like the brushed metal color. No complaints!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Buy, September 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Farberware Classic Sonoma Satin 2-1/2-Quart Stainless Steel Whistling Teakettle (Kitchen)
This was a bargain, I have no trouble with pouring, however, I had a guest that had a lot of trouble trying to pour. I'm pretty strong and coordinated. The whistle has a high pitch that is easy for me to hear but my husband can't hear it. We're an older couple. To make a decision, if you can hold the kettle full of boiling water while using your finger for the spout, it will work fine, if you are a bit uncoordinated and can't hear high pitched sounds give it a pass.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great style & functionality, January 4, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Farberware Classic Sonoma Satin 2-1/2-Quart Stainless Steel Whistling Teakettle (Kitchen)
Satin finish and retro style look great on the stove top and the whistle is loud enough to be heard in next room. No problem with the handle overheating on my gas range. Trigger opening spout works flawlessly. As with any cookware heated on a gas stove, the appropriate flame and burner size should be used. Highly recommended!
