Amazon.com

This budget-priced cookware set is perfect for college students or young couples who are setting up a first kitchen. The 14-piece set has everything necessary for the basic meals attempted by entry-level cooks (pasta and sauce, eggs, and anything pre-packaged). The pans in the set include four covered saucepans in 1-, 1-1/2-, 2-, and 4-1/2-quart sizes and two nonstick skillets in 9- and 10-1/2-inch sizes. The pans are accompanied by four kitchen tools: a slotted spatula, a ladle, a slotted spoon, and a pasta fork.

Made of aluminum, which is an excellent conductor of heat, these pans warm up through the bottoms and sides for even cooking. A nonstick coating on the interior and exterior of the pan reduces the need to cook with extra fats and makes cleanup fast and easy. Pans have durable, riveted phenolic handles that stay cool on the stovetop and see-through glass lids for keeping an eye on supper as it cooks. The 14-piece cookware set is oven-safe up to 350 degrees F and is dishwasher safe. --Cristina Vaamonde

This looked like a great deal at $39.99 with free shipping, so I even gave it as a gift to a friend. To my disappointment, the exterior paint or coating started peeling on the saucepans after a couple of uses. Checked with my friend, and guess what - the same thing ! Perhaps, one could live with an ugly exterior because the interior non-stick surface is still alright, but I wouldn't gift this set to anybody else.

my husband got this to start our married life, and in just 6-8 months all the vessels have their nonstick peeling. very unhealthy for the nonstick material to mix with the food!! just bought a new stainless steel set!

Although I have only used one of the saucepans from the set of cookware, I am not happy with the results. The black coating on the bottom of the pan, after the first use, began to "flake off". Quite frankly, I am now sorry that I donated my other set of cookware to a charity, because even though it was well-used, I consider it to be better than this set of Farberware. The set was purchased because of the Farberware name and I am now very disappointed. However, since I paid relatively little for the set (and utilized a gift certificate), I am not about to go to the trouble and expense of returning it to the manufacturer for replacement. Rest assured, though, should anyone ask me, I will not be able to recommend this product to them.

My old set of non-stick pots and pans were getting worn out so I thought I'd get this since it was on sale at Amazon. I had some doubts about it since I had a bad experience with another Farberware product (but can't remember what it was) but I figured since it was cheap, I'd take a chance. When I got them, I immediately noticed that the quality was much less sturdy and well-made than the Foreverware. And the most important feature that I was looking for - non-stick, that was a joke. I'd never buy any Farberware products anymore. I do recommend Foreverware. It had sustained lots of scratches and damages from me over the years and yet it's still perfectly non-stick. The only reason that I was buying something new is because the handle to one of the pots was getting loose.

I've bought this item two weeks before and to my amazement, the outer black coating of All the cookware began to lose. Be careful about buying this item. you may end up loosing the entire black outside coating and it will definetly look ugly. BEWARE!!!! Not worth for the price!!!

I purchased this set back in December 2005, but never got around to leaving feedback. It's way overdue.

I used the small skillet and the small sauce pan exactly once.

The paint came off the bottom of the saucepan, but on the skillet, it involves the sides as well as the bottom.

To have to find packaging and then absorb the cost to have the stuff mailed back is wrong, since it's clear by reading others' reviews that I am not the only one who's had the same problem.

Like the others whose pots and pans had the peeling paint, I'm hiding mine and won't buy Farberware again.

I'm just thankful I didn't buy it as a "gift" for anyone!

We bought this to replace our older non-stick set and (as of 2007) it has worked very well! I'm pleased with the amount and variety of pans it came with, as well as their quality. For what we paid this is a good investment and we hope it will last us for years to come.

Updating as of 2010: The set has indeed lasted well! Through hundreds of washings, scraping with metal tools (not recommended, but the coating holds up with a few scratches), boiling dry once or twice (again not recommended - but forgetting happens!), and foods of all kinds, there have only been a few mishaps:

1. The lids, which are a great, heavy glass, have a weak point at the handle. The plastic handle is held on by a single screw which eventually loosens and falls out, and in some cases the handle snapped off, leaving us with no way to lift the lid off the pans. It's an easy fix - buy a new wooden or plastic handle and screw it into place tightly! It is an inconvenience, however, and for some people would be enough to forgo the set, since there's no telling when they'll break.
2. The frying pans have started to stick when frying eggs or dry meats. With a little butter or oil the pans are great but it's looking like time to replace. Since we bought the set in 2006, and the saucepans are still going strong, I'm pretty pleased with the overall value - it was cheap, after all.
3. The nylon/plastic utensils frayed/melted at the edges. This is a minor complaint, since we knew ahead of time they are really not great for high-heat cooking, but when you are expected to use a softer non-metal tool on nonstick pans it'd be nice if they included ones that didn't end up looking like the dog chewed them after 3-4 scrambled eggs.

The paint on our set did not peel and neither has the nonstick surface. I'm not sure whether the other reviewers got a bad batch, or we got lucky.

for the price, this product is ok. i paid amazon $39.99(which included S&H). although i am very careful about my non-stick cookwares (never clean them in dishwasher, use mild soap and scrubber), the outer coating has already started chipping (after 7 months of use). do not expect this set to be heavy enough to stay upright always on your burner. if you intend to keep it like an use & throw product, you may wanna buy it for the use for a few years. if you believe in lifetime product, forget about it, close your eyes, open your wallet and go for calphalon, expensive but excellent stuff (some of them have lifetime warranty).
