Great Supplemental Cookware,
By Cruzegal (Delta, Pennsylvania USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Farberware Cook's View 14-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I ordered this set of Farberware "Cook's View" to supplement my expensive set of Wearever Allegro as I always seemed to be "short" a saucepan or two. The Allegro is very good, as it should be, because a complete set, with accessory pieces, cost me over $400. The entire set of Farberware "Cook's View" cost me less than $40 and has proved itself to be worth every penny. It has wonderful tempered glass lids (the Allegro does not), it fits easily on the burners (the Allegro does not, with it's huge double-handles on each piece), and it will not upset me if I forget a pan on the stove as I can replace the whole set if necessary for less than the cost of one Allegro pan! My only complaint, hardly worth mentioning, is that one of the saucepans is not properly balanced. When empty, the handle is a bit too heavy to keep the pot sitting perfectly flat on a burner. Of course, when the food is added, it is fine. For the money, you can't go wrong with this set. It's easy to clean, it's reasonably attractive, and it's price on Amazon can't be beat. Perhaps I got lucky, but when I ordered my set thru Amazon, shipping was free, AND I received a beautiful $15.00 stainless steel Farberware teakettle as a free gift---again, with no shipping charge. I am a very satisfied shopper.

Great deal on budget cookware,

First, let's start of by saying this: this set is NOT heavy-duty commercial quality cookware. It isn't advertised as such, so don't be surprised if it doesn't compare to calphalon, circulon or analon in quality, weight or durability. What it IS is an excellent value for the money. A decent pan alone will cost you as much as this entire set, so if you're on a budget and need cookware, or just something to augment you current set (there's always a time when you need another saucepan or two or skillet, but you're not going to use them everyday), this is an awesome value. They WILL scratch, especially on the outside where they might bang up against other pots and pans (the outside "nonstick" coating is no substitute for hard anodized). I've had a set of these for 5 years now, and they're starting to show their age, but are an exceptional value considering what you get for the price.

Quality Assurance is a joke!,

This review is from: Farberware Cook's View 14-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I reently ordered this item. Actually 2 weeks ago, and I still haven't used it. Why? Because one of the pots came scratched and when I called Farberware about it, like it states in their Quality Assurance brochure to do, they told me it was Amazon's problem. According to their brochure if you open your order and find a defect they will replace it. They don't. And when you call them to ask for a replacement they are rude and insulting. So now I have a new cookware set that I can't use until I ship the whole thing back to Amazon and get my replacement. Multiple E-mails to them have also remained unanswered. I wouldn't waste my time with Farberware since you'll obviously never get the Quality Assurance that they give.

How desperate are you?,

Look, these are simply not high quality pots and pans, and are not comparable to Farberware's other lines, a la Millenium and Classic. This is Farberware's el cheapo brand designed to appeal to Wal-Mart shoppers and college students. The pans are thin, the nonstick coating will not last and you'll find they scratch rather easily. However, they are an absolutely fabulous deal hear on Amazon, which is why they get 2 stars, not one. For somebody who wants the absolute cheapest set of not-quite-disposable pans they can find, you've come to the right place. I would recommend, however that you buy one or two of the Calphalon Commercial or Farberware Classic special priced items here instead. It will last a lot longer, look a lot nicer, and cook food better. Ultimately, the cost of cookware is a tiny fraction of the cost of the food that you will be cooking with it -- pennies a meal. Isn't it worth it to have decent quality?

Well, as the title suggests, this is not the pot set if you're an aspiring Emeril! If you're in college, starting out in your first apartment, or in need of a starter set to get the basic cooking done as a newly-wed couple (as we are), then this set is for you!...especially at the great bargain prices of Amazon.com. Don't expect the heavy weight, don't expect flawless concentric heating, and even the balance leaves a bit to be desired. But eggs, omelette, rice, pasta, chili, curry, or braising/browing meat, and this set does the trick! It definately covers all the basics, I would say more than adequately, with excellent fast heating of all pots and pans and well-fitting lids. FYI - the utensils (or should I say flexisticks) are FLIMSY!! DO NOT attempt to lift heavy wads of spagetti, rice, or stews with the spoons or even a heavy omelette with the "spatula" :-) ... boiiinnngggg! Get a wooden spoon ;-)

not as sturdy as my last farberware set, but the price was a huge difference too.really take care with the use of non-plastic utensils these scratch easy. the glass tops are hard to keep clean under the rims.

These pots and pans are a great deal. The inside coating of the nonstick is thick enough that you can feel the texture by rubbing your finger over it. I love the fact that they have the raised rings underneath to keep even heating. The utensils that come with it are nice, too. They have nice clear lids so you can view your food while cooking. This is my first set of Farberware, and I am very happy with them.

I love this set! I was hesitant about ordering a set that was this cheap, but I said what the hey and ordered it anyway. I'm glad I did. I LOVE the handles & lids on this set! The lids fit tightly and allow you to see what you're cooking. The handles are very comfortable (both grip wise and they don't heat up). The set is just a heavy enough gauge to cook well. So far I have only kudos for this inexpensive set.By the way: if you're looking for a dutch oven type pot that is just a wee bit smaller than the usual huge honker the 4 1/2 qt pot is great! I use it a lot. I've just ordered a second set.

Worst cookware I have ever had!,
By
This review is from: Farberware Cook's View 14-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
This is the first time I have written a review on anything but after using these pans I felt I had to let people know how horrible they are. I have bought most of my cookware from Wal-mart, the cheap ones, because I couldn't afford to buy expensive stuff. I thought these would be similar to what I had bought in the past, not the best but useable. Definately not true! I have had them aprox. 2 mo. and have only used them a few times when I need non-stick. (I have cast iron cookware too but don't use them for anything with a tomato base) I have had to go back to the old non-stick cookware (or at least the ones I didn't throw out). The pans I threw out after 3 yrs were in better shape than these are now.The old ones were Farberware also and cheap at Walmart, that is why I ordered these, but they are difinately not the same quality. The coating on these peel off even when not being used. I take them out of the cabinet to use and there are black flakes in the bottom from the coating falling off! My husband says they look like the coating is just paint that is peeling off. I agree.
You may be thinking it has something to do with a dishwasher but it doens't. I don't own one, these are washed by had with soap, water and soft dish cloth. the cheapest set at Wal-mart is better quality than these, I promise. I love Amazon and I hate to write a bad review about a product they sell but I felt I had no choice with this one! Of course it is not their fault.

Even though the price was right great we thought quality would be better because they were Faberware. I wish I had bought a better set quality set.
