The best pots I've ever owned,

One of the perks to being a military wife it the ability to purchase new pots every time you move while you wait on your household goods to catch up with you. Two years ago I bought a set of these for my house in Florida - the price seemed good. When we arrived at this duty station, I bought some of those really nice professional cookware sets - and I hated them so much, I sold them. The $400 set didn't heat as evenly as these, food stuck to the bottoms, and they were a pain to clean. I have been looking for a chance to buy another set of these, and I was just thrilled to see that Amazon had them. They are, without a doubt, the best cookwear I've ever owned in thirty years. They cook evenly on an electric range or a gas one, the lids are wonderful, they wash easily in the dishwasher, and well, like I said, I just love them.

MUCH better quality than I expected,

This is a great set of pots and pans. I thought, because of the price and the word "starter" in the product title, that they were going to be a flimsy, lower quality set. I was just going to buy a cheap set to get me through the next 4 or 5 years like I did last time I bought pots and pans. But these are VERY nice. Much, much better than I expected. These are the kind of pots and pans that you see in kitchen gadget stores, but are too expensive to buy because you know your kids are just going to wear them around on their heads like helmets and then make a stew from their hard plastic toys. At this price you could even buy your kids their own set to scratch up! But seriously, these are really great. After my sister saw them, she bought a set to replace her year old [$125] stainless set that she doesn't really like. I highly recommend this set. You will not be disappointed.

I'm from Provo, UT, married college student capital of the world, and I am poor. As my (now) wife and I were registering for our wedding, we had trouble finding a non-stick cookware set low-priced enough that anyone we knew would get it for us. Just because I was curious, I did a bit of looking on Amazon and could not believe the price on this set! Everything else was in the $$$$ to $$$ range for anything like this. I quickly e-mailed everyone I knew and told them this would make a perfect wedding present. Fortunately, somebody did end up buying them for us, and they have been absolutely wonderful.First off, they do an excellent job. So far, everything we have cooked in them has turned out great. Not only do they heat evenly and quickly, cleaning is an absolute cinch. Even without soap, they just rinse right off and are ready to re-use. We got some Bon Ami to clean them, but haven't had to use it yet. Second of all, they have a simple, no-nonsense design and sturdy structure. They're easy to handle, they fit into a small location in our cramped kitchen, the handles don't heat up, the lids are easy to deal with (three lids to fit five pans), and they look nice. Finally, you really cannot beat the price. There is nothing cheapo about these pots. They're every bit as good as any $$$ set you could find out there. If you're getting married, moving out on your own, or just need to upgrade to some new cookware, there is nothing even close to this set from Farberware.

I ordered the cookware as listed and expected very little for the price but was very surprised to get some high quality pots and pans--I NEVER write opinions on things I order from the internet as I usually get at best what I ordered and no more but in this case I felt I had to tell others of the quality product I recieved. The pots and pans have HEAVY duty handles and the glass lids have a large non heat conducting handle for easy use--watch out for the metal ring that surrounds the galss as it does get hot.. Bottom line Buy it espcially if you are on a tight budget but want excelent quality at a very low price......

At first I was not enthusiastic to read "first course" in the title but because of the brand name Farberware and the incredibly low price, I decided to buy it. The products came today and I think I made the best investment in years. I would not be surprised if someone charged me the same amount of money for just 1 or 2 pieces from this set. Using the new pan, I sauteed some veggie today and it worked great. I am thinking of buying this set again when this one gets old.

I do not believe I have ever had such a good deal...,

so I had to say something. There is nothing wrong with this set except the price. I probably would have paid more. I have had them almost a month now and all is cooking swimmingly. They heat evenly; nothing sticks to them and the clean easily. I wasn't that enthusiastic about the glass covers (because I drop everything) but they are very sturdy and the covers are a non-issue now. The set is the perfect size and amount of ware and I cook everyday.
Ok, I've had these bad boys three years now and they are tremendous. Above recommenation still stands.

Absolutely amazing price for this level of quality. I may be unusual, but I require multiple pots and pans...for example 2 one quart and 2 2 quarts are perfect for me, hence I bought this set to compliment a more expensive one. Although the lids are a little light weight compared to pans that cost as much for one as the set, the set itself is a true bargain. Now I have the ability to combine these pans with my costly, overpriced set and run two covered 1 quart and/or 2 quart saucepans at once ;)These are not as cheaply made as local stores...and despite an earlier post, they look fine. Next to my very expensive Italian cookware, they hold their own nicely at about at least a tenth the cost. Highly recommended as 'first cookware' or a supplemental set.. in fact, more than worthy on its own.

Well the pots worked like a charm. They heated evenly although a little slow to heat up but that is ok. I have had many successful Cooking expirences with this set. I have had them now for about 2 months and they have not faild me.

Not bad for a cheap set,

These are better than the T-Fal set we purchased for a lot more $$$. I've had this set since August 2003 (it's April 2004) and I have to say I'm still pretty pleased with this set. I don't wash them in the dishwasher that often, and I only use wooden or plastic utensils on them, so they're not scratched. My only concerns with them are that the bolts that connect the handle to the pot in the inside of the pot often trap food (especially tomato sauce) and are hard to get 100% clean and the large skillet is nice, but a little smaller than what I'm used to. Otherwise, it's held up quite nicely for a set that's so cheap! I'd buy it again!

All peices smaller than average set's peices,

This review is from: Farberware First Course 8-Piece Nonstick Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I just received these today, to replace a set (different brand, similar make) I got 1.5 years ago. The set I'm replacing had the same # of peices only they are the "typical" size you receive when you buy a set like this. When I first saw the size of all the peices in this set I was shocked. I didn't compare the sizes of each peice in each set before I ordered the Faberware and I wish I did because I think I'll be sending this set back. What am I going to use a one quart sauce pan for? Or a 7" skillet? They only things I can think of is warming a cup of milk in the first and scrambling ONE egg in the latter. The quality seems durable, so I'd only recommend this item if you're looking for peices in a set sized this small. |
