This is a battleship of a saucepan offered at a bargain price. You are getting your basic, thick stainless steel deal here -- not as fancy as Calphalon or All-Clad -- but perfectly fine for 99 percent of cooks. Farberware, though not as sturdily built as in years past when they were made in New York, should last for decades. The only thing I wish this came with would be a long handle for one-handed operation. You must carry this with both hands. Other pluses -- this is dishwasher safe, though that will take some of the shine off the stainless, and can take years of beating from metal utensils, steel wool, etc.

Enjoy!

This pan is perfect for me because I am single and don't need to cook up 5 or 6 quarts of anything. It's well made and easy to store. I even bought a second one for potential bigger dinner situations or holiday entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars it ain't the high priced pot but..., May 21, 2004

I own Cuisinart pans. And, I own this saucepan. If you bring everybody into you kitchen and want to show of the Cuisinart logo on your pots then this isn't for you. But, they have to look for logos to see a "quality" difference--this little pot has class too. Just don't tell `em what you paid for this pot and I bet they don't catch on.

If you are looking for something that works every bit as well for a fraction of the price then the Cuisine items are for you. Sadly, there are only a couple of items in the Cuisine line.

Someone mentioned the handles can get hot. That is true. But, I have had to use hotpads on my long handled Cuisinart at times too. So, it sure isn't a deal breaker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded expectations!!, January 4, 2004

This was free with a Le Creuset pot I ordered, so I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised! I used this for a vegetable dish and decided it was attractive enough to serve in. It kept the veggies hot throughout the meal and they were still piping hot when I cleared the table. The looped handles made the saucepan easy to manage, both on and off the stovetop. They make it easy to carry when it's full, and it's nice not to have another handle in the way when I'm using all the burners. The 18/10 stainless steel is high quality and won't react with foods. Although it's not non-stick I found it easy to clean. The 3 quart size is just right for a lot of dishes, so I expect to be using this often. You won't go wrong with this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Neat, sturdy and inexpensive, June 5, 2006

We wanted a sauce pan (with a lid) sufficient enough for our family and also to be useful when we have some visitors. So we considered this Faberware 3 quart stainless steel saucepan to be appropriate. We were a little doubtful about its steel handles getting hot while cooking. But after the first use this doubt vanished. We are happy with its material which is quite thick, weight and also simple design. It does not have any unwanted fancy attachments and obtrusive handles and the flat base gives stability and fits well on the stove.

We had seen similar sauce pans in Target for $20. So on Amazon we ended up saving $8. In addition since Amazon does not charge tax for our location there was a further saving of around $1.5, which is not bad, and the pan was delivered on the dot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific pot for the price, February 24, 2006

This pan is excellent for sauces, soups and vegetables and the 3-qt. size is very versatile. The handles stay relatively cool on the stove and takes up less space than most single-handled pans when storing it in the refrigerator. Cleanup is quite easy. Overall, a handsome and utilitarian pan and well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this pot!, November 1, 2004

I never thought of this pot as anything too special until I sauteed onions in it the other night. It's been a long time since I've had a pot that let onions cook to a transparency instead of burning them. Maintained perfect heat throughout and my onions cooked beautifully! It's the best eight bucks I ever spent.

Also, I must say I didn't have the problem of the handles overheating that other people seemed to have. Perhaps it's because the burner I used was slightly smaller than the pot itself. By the time I was done cooking (about 15 minutes) the handles were still cool enough that I didn't need a pot holder to take it off the heat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful small pot, April 25, 2007

This review is from: Farberware Cuisine 3-Quart Covered Saucepan (Kitchen)
I've had this pot more than 3 years, and it still looks new. I always use a pot holder to handle it when I cook, because the metal handles do get hot. I like the handles because they're not in the way when I'm cooking several things at once.

The lid is snug, allowing one to boil water faster and without steaming up the kitchen.

As for size, picture a gallon of milk. This pot will hold 3/4 as much, if filled to the brim.

The thick bottom of the pot keeps food hot a long time. It's attractive enough to put on the table. It's a very good quality pot.

Best of all, this pot doesn't have a non-stick interior. It's still easy to clean, and I don't have to worry about the non-stick issues when I use it.

I'm very pleased with both the quality and size of this pan. The handles are easy to grasp. The lid fits snugly. I have used it to hard-boil eggs and to heat spaghetti sauce. It performed well each time I used it. The price was outstanding, making this an affordable way to try out the Farberware Cuisine series.
