In gleaming chrome and formed of many gentle curves, this two-slot toaster is classical in appearance but up-to-date in performance. Insert two slices of bread, bagel halves, or frozen waffles, and the "Down Right" feature automatically lowers them to begin the toasting process. Extra-wide slots accept artisan breads and other thick items, and seven browning settings permit precise toasting. A bagel button ensures that only the cut side will be toasted, with the crust side merely warmed, and a defrost button instructs the toaster to first thaw, then toast frozen items inserted directly from the freezer. A cancel button automatically lifts out your toast, and a crumb tray slides out of the bright black plastic base. The toaster packs 1,150 watts of power and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Aside from its entertainment value of automatically lowering and rising by itself, this toaster makes fantastic toast, bagels, pastries, whatever you want. I had been searching for years for the version Sunbeam made, and ended up paying a LOT more than this for a used Sunbeam from the 50's. When I found this, I immediately ordered it. As I said, it makes the BEST. I wouldn't be without mine.

Giving the toaster 1 star for appearance - can't judge its effiency as a toaster because it was dead on arrival. First piece of toast went halfway down and stopped. Elements never lit. Tried unplugging and restarting - no go. Pretty disappointing after waiting nearly 2 months for toaster to be delivered. Shame on you Farberware quality control!
