Great - A steal at this price!

This is a TRUE SLOW COOKER that produces excellent results.
In my opinion it's the best 5 qt round ceramic slow cooker - because un-like so many other inexpensive slow cookers it has 3 TRUE settings that are not too hot to boil your food away.
High -210 degress F.
Low -165 F.
Keep Warm -140 F.
It does not cook too hot at the low setting! It does not boil your food away to bland nothingness... it's a TRUE SLOW COOKER!

Well built - with a great Ceramic insert with good handles for lifting - I highly recommend it.

We bought a new Rival to replace our 25 year old crockpot before checking reviews and found it burned all the meals, even on low heat. Apparently several others have had the same problem according to Amazon reviews. We then bought this very inexpensive FSSC500 and are delighted. The low temperature allows you to cook meals for 8 hours or more and the pot seems to be well built. This is a very basic model, but it looks good and gets the job done. 5 stars!

I think my wife and I were the last of our friends to get around to adding a slow cooker to our kitchen.

When I began doing some preliminary research I was disconcerted that I was unable to find any good reviews and most of what I came across was recall info for a host of slow cookers. Seemed pretty ominous.

Fortunately, I found many useful reviews here on amazon and was able to not only find a slow cooker that works as advertised but a very economical one to boot.

We only received the unit on Monday but my wife prepared a 5lb roast right off the bat with a recipe from the included owner's manual.

Following the directions to a "T" in terms of ingredients, temperature setting and time, the roast came out perfectly.

I did find one issue which Farberware customer service is taking care of for us. Upon washing the (cooled off) lid for the cooker, I noticed what appears to be a hairline crack running around the perimeter of the glass lid. It did not penetrate through the glass and may have been a manufacturing flaw I hadn't noticed when taking the item out of the box. (I had to hold it in the light a certain way to notice it.)

In any case, in an abundance of caution I called Farberware and they are sending a new lid right out. Can't ask for more than that. (Should the new lid have issues I will come back and edit this review but I am remaining confident that this is an anomaly.)

Overall, I'd have to say that this economical purchase will prove very worthwhile for a long time to come.

I've never felt the urge to write a review here before, but I love this slow cooker. After buying a different model a few weeks ago that promptly overcooked my food in less than 6 hours on low and boiled away the whole time, I learned that many of the newer slow cookers just cook way too hot.

After reading the reviews on here I thought I would give it another shot. Just made a delicious beef stew that I cooked for 8 hours on low like the recipe specified, and everything came out perfect, tender meat, vegetables cooked just right and not mushy, just great! I could also see this cooker was not boiling away at all like my last one!

It's a very simple, affordable appliance without any of the bells and whistles, but I was more interested in finding a slow cooker that cooked slow and where my food would come out tasting delicious! This slow cooker fits the bill!!

LOVE IT!

Nice, big slow cooker and a good value. Makes cooking big batches of chili or soup very easy and it is easy to clean. More flavor with slow cooking certain foods and no worry having it cook while I am at work. Cannot do the same with a stove or oven. Don't buy a smaller crock pot, the food is so good it all goes quickly.

Finally, a slow cooker that cooks like it's supposed to! I've tried several different brands only to have them flash cook everything way too fast. I thought I'd try this slow cooker because it had great reviews and everyone claimed the temperature settings were correct (not too hot). I just received it a few days ago and have made chicken and pot roast in it and both have come out perfectly! I am so pleased with this slow cooker and have recommended it to all my friends who complain about their terrible slow cookers!

This is an attractive and very large slow cooker. It does a great job and I am extremely pleased with this product. I especially like the warming feature.

This is the first slow cooker I have ever purchased, and I must say that it works wonderfully - everything was perfect in our stew: meat tender, veggies firm but cooked. The only thing I would caution anyone about is that it cooks REALLY SLOWLY. I would recommend adding an extra hour to your recipe directions.

Love this and the price is unheard of today for a quality cooker.
I have other Slow Cookers that do not run true to their name.
They heat above what is needed and can burn easily.
The temp in this runs true

love it.........cook on low all day with no burned or dried out mess, very nice indeed. I also love the plain white look, will match almost any kitchen. The first one I recieved did crack on the side, but Amazon overighted me a new one, very nice and fast! thanks again amazon for a great deal on a great item!!
