We used this item about six times. It worked perfectly and was a beautiful addition to the buffet. The seventh time we plugged it in, nothing happened. We checked outlets, wiring etc, but it simply did not work. We contacted the Farberware Company by email and heard nothing. We contacted them again and received an email back saying call our 800 number. We called the 800 number three times and were on hold for over 10 minutes. We called the store from which we purchased it and they gave us another number. We called that number and the Farberware representative told us " If you have the original sales receipt and if the warrantly is still good we'll send you another one." We did not have the sales receipt. Then we called a local small appliance repair company who said "if it's made in the USA, we can repair it, if it's made in China, throw it away." Ours was made in China. We figure each pot of coffee we made with this pot cost $15 plus the cost of the coffee. We won't buy another one.

This Farberware Urn is a must for family gatherings. My mother has had the smaller version for several years and she just loves it! If I receive the 55 C in my bridal registry, we'll have one for decafe and one for regular coffee! I have even borrowed my mothers to warm apple cider- what a treat in the fall!

I just came across this urn,the reason being I'm shopping for its replacment. This urn doesn't percolate thoroughly or saturate the basket. It brews weak due to this defect. I have checked water and grind ratios. I also agree that it doesn't keep it hot enough. Thanks for the input, I will not waste time by calling for service and I will not purchase this brand personally.
I am considering a BUN for both brew time and heat and serving it in 2 stainless airpots..

And bit the dust. I use it once a year for 3 days. I'm estimating it made coffee 10 times. Now it wont brew anything but weak coffee. If you fill it to 55 cups it takes about an hour to brew. Now it perks for 30 minutes and walla it makes the coffee weak. I was going to call Faberware and noticed they charge 95 cents per minute. For what? Like the last guy said it's an expensive way to make a cup of coffee. It's a throwaway. So,this time I'll buy the west bend for 35 bucks and when it stops working I'll throw it away. At least I wont be thrwing away 150 bucks.

I recently purchased this coffee urn for the prupose of entertaining. I live in anupsale area in Manhattan and have many guests over for dinner parties and such. This urn is beautifully built and adds another touch of class to any even tI throw. Not to mention it makes an amazing batch of great tasting coffee.

I've read other reviews here on Amazon about these units just quitting after several uses. Someone bought two for their church and one burned out after 5 uses. We bought two for our church and one burned out within the first year. They're attractive, but I'll never buy another one.

Its always amazing when you come across an appliance that does what it is designed to do, is totally reliable and durable and looks great. This Farberware Urn is not only simple to operate but makes the best tasting coffee. The really nice feature of a Farberware is that it will keep coffee hot and tasting great (never burned) for hours. I've never had any other coffee system keep coffee hot and maintain it's taste for as long. We just purchased another one. Our first one has lasted for 10 years and still operates like new. You can make up to 55 cups. The price is very fair.

My mother-in-law had one of these for 30 years and it's amazing that the same one is still being sold. We love it. Amazon price was the lowest we could find and we received it in 3 days from our order.

I ordered this Urn for Chapelwood United Methodist Church as a gift from the Seekers Sunday School Class to replace one we had for many years. It arrived earlier than the estimated time during the Christmas season. Thanks for the fast delivery.

This was for use at our church, it makes very good coffee and keeps it hot.
