4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but some things to consider........., January 1, 2007

This review is from: Farberware Insulated Bakeware 15-1/2-by-20-Inch Jumbo Cookie Sheet (Kitchen)
Having recently used this as part of the holiday baking equipment, I got a full run test to base the review on. This is a heavy weight cookie sheet, nothing cheap about it, it does cover a full rack in the oven and it's non-stick coating so far appears to be quite durable. Cookies did come off quite easily, even sliding off in many cases, handy if you are at the right location and time to remove them, that is. This would be great to cook a large pizza on, as it has the size to do the job. It has been very easy to clean as well, as you would expect from non-stick coated bakeware. You do have to keep a good grip on the this rather slippery sheet though, as it wants to slide all over the place. To resolve the sliding issue, make sure to place ONLY on a flat surface and use a silicone baking glove or mitt to move it while the sheet is too hot to handle. This sheet is ultra-efficient for the busy cook in the way of baking so many things at once, just about double the normal size cookie sheet capacity. The big problem with this sheet being it's tendency to develop hot spots, which means the full sheet of cookies is likely to be baked unevenly, especially those that are closer to the edge burn a bit, meanwhile those in the center are far less done. Trying to rotate this sheet half way through baking time doesn't entirely resolve this issue either, as well as that being no small task, given the sheet must be pulled all the way out to be turned around, given it's size. If you are baking cookies or similar, this sheet is probably best suited to those with convection ovens, as they have less tendency to produce those hot spots. For the rest of us, this sheet provides a great tool for supporting large disposal aluminum baking pans, items that are very large, such as french bread and also to use as a drip pan underneath the messy and drippy bakers like pies. Given this is an insulated baking sheet, I really was so disappointed with the burning issue, but all in all, with the tasks it is suited for in mind, I could definitely recommend it.

I got into a baking mood for the holidays, and my little cookie sheets just weren't going to cut it for holiday cookies. So I decided to try a larger sheet to be more efficient. The size is perfect for my oven. I got two pans so I could bake twice as many cookies at the same time (rotating and alternating positions half-way through).

However, there are some issues that prevent me from giving this product 5 stars:

- Since it's a non-stick surface with just 1 raised edge, cookies have a tendency to slip/slid. at one point, about 6 Snickerdoodles slid off the pan while I was trying to insert the sheet into the oven.

- Be careful with the non-stick surface, it's easily scratched. I made the mistake of putting these cookie sheets on the edge of a metal pan, and part of the coating from the cookie sheet got scratched off. Thankfully, the parts that got scratched off were on the bottom of the sheet, so it doesn't affect the baking surface. I only have a silicone spatula, so I used that to remove my cookies, but I could see if you had a metal spatula, it could potentially scratch the baking surface.

- Since this is an insulated baking sheet, there are little holes on the bottom corners of the sheet, which water can get into when washing, so make sure you properly dry the sheets before storing them.

This wasn't an issue for me since it fit my oven perfectly, but you might want to measure the inside of your oven to verify these baking sheets will fit.

Overall, I thought this was a great product, and I would recommend it to others.

I use this cookie sheet constantly. It's a great size and it cooks evenly. The only problem is I have a hard time grabbing it out of the oven with an oven mitt on. I wish the lip was just a little bit deeper or had a rolled edge or something. It's a small inconvenience though because overall it's terrific.

This is a replacement of what I already own. If you are baking Christmas cookies, this product is a must! The "double wall" helps to avoid burning the bottom. Highly reccomend. Once you use these, you will throw away all your single layer baking dishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Large, heavy duty nonstick cookie sheet, September 25, 2009

For years I have used another brand of cookie sheet, one that offered an insulated baking sheet much like this one, but I switched to this brand as that what was available through Amazon Prime. I'm pleased that I made the switch. While the Farberware baking sheet is designed and built slightly differently than my other baking sheets, the Farberware Insulted baking sheet works as advertised. It's also very sturdy, has some weight to it, and so far no warping.

Also, the baked goods come out of the oven with no scorched or burned bottoms. They are perfectly baked.

Keep in mind this is a large, open rim baking sheet, so make sure your oven is large enough to accommodate the baking sheet.

Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, the perfect size!, July 4, 2009
This review is from: Farberware Insulated Bakeware 15-1/2-by-20-Inch Jumbo Cookie Sheet (Kitchen)
The first day that I got my highly anticipated Faberware Jumbo Cookie sheet I put it to the test!

I had been wanting something big enough to bake all the cookies and baguettes I desired but after looking around my area for a while I realized something that large was not to be found so I looked to Amazon and there it was..

My needs were pretty basic, I wasn't looking for anything "fancy" just big enough and preferably without raised sides. I do have a pizza stone but it isn't long enough for those long baguettes and you can't bake cookies and things of that nature on it because of the fat content. I was previously using the bottoms of my aluminum sheet pans for the bread (still not long enough) and my cookies would squish together after all that handmade hardwork..oh the horror!!

Enough was enough so to the internet..I narrowed it down and it was between this one and another. The reason I picked the Farberware was the price honestly :).

I didn't think I needed the "insulated" or "non stick" features and felt I could have done without but am now happy that that's what I have! How did I stand my nasty old thin aluminum for that long?

My cookies now bake perfectly even despite my psycho oven and have room to spread out, I now bake round cookies..not square ones. My long breads bake to perfection and there is no "popping" of the sheet at higher temps to deflate any of my baked goods.

I love the fact that it doesn't have raised sides, all but one are flat and that side is used as a handle to take it out of the oven.

I have never had anything stick or make a mess, this cookie sheet is SO easy to clean! It's also great that I don't have to use any extra fats to make sure everything comes off properly..

One warning though, it is super slippery so be careful when you are taking it in and out of the oven because things will slip right off into the abyss, you don't want to be fishing out cookies that look like charcoal!

Also, I would recommend measuring your oven before purchasing this sheet because it is quite large. Though it was the perfect size for me you might want to take that precaution to make sure.

In my opinion a large flat surface for cooking like this is a must for all bakers who are looking for a multi use sheet, and this Faberware does a beautiful job to fill that need.

I have been baking for many years and this cookie sheet is the best one I have ever owned. Cookies do not burn on the bottom and cook throughout. It is great for baking my Italian biscotti, which are cooked in loaves. They don't burn on the bottom and cook all the way through. Large baking surface saves time. The non-stick surface is great and eliminates the need for any greasing. Spend the money on this. It is well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy at least 3 if you make a lot of cookies!, August 24, 2011

This review is from: Farberware Insulated Bakeware 15-1/2-by-20-Inch Jumbo Cookie Sheet (Kitchen)
This is a great, non-stick cookie sheet! You can fit many cookies on here (up to 24-30 if your are smaller or are making the kind that don't spread) which makes your baking tasks shorter. The non-stick helps even sticky or thin cookies come off with almost no effort. I do use a thin nylon spatula (I have these OXO ones) to slip under even thin and fragile things without scratching the surface. You can't jerk these around with things on them, the surface makes your items want to slide right off. However, if you are good, you can yank the sheet and have most of the cookies transfer right onto your cooling racks without having to lift them one by one! I used to have 2 aluminum ones and one of these kind, but a visitor cut pizzas on mine with a sharp knife, scratching the heck out of all of them. I am here buying more. Luckily though, I can upgrade to all 3 of these kind! I store mine with a silpat or length of paper towel between them so the bottom surface of one doesn't scratch the top surface of the one under it.

I like having 3 cookie sheets for making large batches...number one can be in the oven, number two is cooling (from the last batch), and number three is getting loaded to go in...then just keep that assembly line going. This way there is no down-time between baking batches (one out, one in, one cooling.) If you try to put dough on a hot sheet, it can melt and spread by the time you're finished loading and mess up your cookies. I don't like to put more than one sheet in my oven at once, they just don't come out uniformly, even if I rotate sheets. Three keeps you moving non-stop. Of course, if you are only baking a small batch, you won't need them, but if you are it really speeds things along.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Piece of Equipment in My Kitchen, February 2, 2011
This review is from: Farberware Insulated Bakeware 15-1/2-by-20-Inch Jumbo Cookie Sheet (Kitchen)
This sheet ROCKS, plain and simple. I've had one for many years now; it still looks like new. Or rather it looked new until my husband cooked a pizza on it (turned out beautifully) and proceeded to cut it while still on my beloved cookie sheet. Quick tip: slide the pizza off before cutting.

Now, I'm getting two of these sheets to replace my old stalwart. I seriously love this sheet. NOTHING sticks to it. I swear I could put super glue on it and it would pop right off (but don't try that at home). It is very slippery, so keep a good grip on it. Cookies bake pretty evenly. It's a great size. You won't be disappointed.

Final aside: using a metal utensil anywhere near these sheets is now a capital offense at our house.

Being a strong believer that you 'get what you pay for', when I decided I wanted a superior quality cookie sheet, I went directly to a Farberware product - and Farberware definately did not disappoint with this cookie sheet. Firstly, it's huge, so it easily bakes over a dozen very large cookies at a time. And, it bakes them beautifully - the entire pan baked evenly, and the bottom of the cookies were perfect! This is, hands down, the BEST cookie sheet I've ever owned. Now, I have an incredible cookie sheet to bake my incredible chocolate chip with pecans cookies on! Excellent, excellent product!
