5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pan for the money
This is a great pan. I have had this pan for a couple of weeks, and have used it almost daily since receiving it.

It is heavy but well balanced, and I like the cushy silicone hand grip (which eliminates the need for a potholder) more than I expected to. The pan cooks *very* evenly, I was really impressed. It heats up quickly, and quickly responds to adjustments to...

When I first bought this pan I was replacing a pan from a moderately priced set from Costco. That pan lasted about 3 years and I got my money's worth.

The positive review from America's Test Kitchen is what pointed me in this direction. The Farberware pan was a joy to use when I first bought it and I loved the even heat. All of the positive comments are accurate at first.

The problem is it only lasted 3 months before it lost it's nonstick properties almost completely. I never used spray on oil or subjected it to high heat. I was always very meticilous about the way I cleaned it and never touched the surface with anything but plastic. I even bought a special soft plastic cleaning brush so as to be very delicate with the surface.

I have been using nonstick skillets since they first came out many years ago. With the exception of one ultra cheapo model I have NEVER had a nonstick that had its nonstick go bad so quickly. Of course I can send this back to Farberware but it seems clear that if it has lost it's nonstick properties they only have to say it was my fault. Why waste $10 in shipping costs? This is my last Farberware product.

After writing this first part of the review I thought it would only be fair to email Farberware to let them respond. After doing some googling I have found that there is no email. It is also basically impossible to get someone on the phone. They sold their warranty service to a different company, All American Lighting in Berwick, PA. As it turns out this company gets terrible feedback for their service. If this isn't really Farberware what exactly is their incentive to provide good service? You can check on consumeraffairs dot com and other places and you'll get an eyeful. BUYER BEWARE!

It is heavy but well balanced, and I like the cushy silicone hand grip (which eliminates the need for a potholder) more than I expected to. The pan cooks *very* evenly, I was really impressed. It heats up quickly, and quickly responds to adjustments to the heat level (I have a gas range).

The nonstick works well, my extra crispy eggs slide right out of the pan. It is too soon to comment on the longevity of the non-stick, but I can say this pan was considerably less expensive than the Calphalon pan it replaced, which only lasted 2 years. And it can go in the dishwasher.

The pan is attractive and oven safe to 400 degrees F. All in all, I vote it a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice skillet, October 24, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Inch Nonstick Skillet (Kitchen)
We originally purchased one of these skillets as a gift for my father-in-law, since this particular skillet was highly recommended by a cooking show he watches. A few months ago, our favorite nonstick pan suffered a calamity (houseguest plus metal fork = bad) and we ended up replacing it with one of these. I can just say WOW. It doesn't feel like a $20 skillet! We have cooked several meals with it (I cook a lot of scrambled eggs) so far and it's performing great. Beware that it quite heavy. Othwerwise, recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will Never Buy Farberware Again!!!, May 21, 2005
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Inch Nonstick Skillet (Kitchen)
Farberware claims that they guarantee these pots and pans forever. Well after a short amount of time, the frying pan developed a bulge on the underside of the pan preventing it from sitting flat on the cooking surface. No problem I thought since it was guaranteed..

Well after sending it back to Farberware, they returned it stating that it was probably exposed to temperatures that were too high! I didn't realize that their pans weren't designed to withstand a stovetop!

Their promise of lifetime guarantee is bogus, their product quality is questionable and their customer service is horrible! Please don't be fooled by this brand! Avoid at all costs..!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This, January 13, 2007
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Inch Nonstick Skillet (Kitchen)
I bought this pan based on a recommendation from Cook's Illustrated. I was impressed by the weight and the feel of the pan when I took it out of the box. Then, I used it. As soon as heat hit the pan, stuff began oozing out of the join between the bottom and top of the pan. The stuff smoked and caught on fire. I called Farberware to report the problem and spoke to someone who assured me a return call within 24 hours. That was a week ago with no return call. Buyer beware!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very good pan for the money, make no mistake, September 12, 2005

I bought this pan with the idea that it would serve as a substitute for the stainless steel pans that I use for one-meal cooking. Let me tell you, this pan is worth the money. It is not a "cheapo" pan but a well-made tool for cooking all sorts of foods. The base is heavy stainless steel over an aluminum core, which spreads the heat very evenly. The sides are shiney stainless steel and the handle is extraordinarily comfortable. It is used on a smooth-top electric range and heats up nicely.

The non-stick works fine as long as you clean it with only a cloth and soap and water. Basted eggs literally slide out of the pan with zero friction. I have used it to cook cheese based pasta dishes with wonderful results. It also does great with fried chicken, hamburgers, and even hot dogs. It's big enough to toast the buns on one side and cook the meat on the other. My wife has begun to use it in place of some of our Belgique stainless, so I bought a spare just to have around.

This pan gets my highest recommendation.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE MY NEW SKILLET!!, February 21, 2005

This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Inch Nonstick Skillet (Kitchen)
I am thrilled with this skillet! It replaced a very pricey pan that lasted less than two years and did not perform that well even when new. Ordered this just before Christmas, so it got a real workout through and after the holidays. It cooks perfectly over medium heat due to the even heat distribution core on the bottom, and the non-stick surface works like a dream, nothing sticks. The soft touch handle is great, almost never need a pot holder. If I was asked for a recommendation I would say to add a "helper handle", the skillet is quite heavy empty, with food it is not easy to lift. However, I happily use it almost every day and came back today to order the 10". Try it, you won't be sorry!!

Pros:
Truly a nonstick skillet.
Heavy duty keeps from getting knocked around and sits securely on the stovetop.
Very comfortable handle
Exterior mirror finish is still as shiny as the day I bought it...almost 1-year ago.

Cons:
I knocked off 1-start due to the rounded design of the lip, non of my standard lids will fit properly.

This is a fantastic product, well worth the higher price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outlasted two sets of T-Fal, December 19, 2004
By
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Inch Nonstick Skillet (Kitchen)
10 years ago, I was given a Farberware Millennium non-stick griddle as a wedding present. It has outlasted 6 homes, 4 cars, 2 sets of T-Fal, a generic non-stick set and is now keeping pace with my Le Creuset and Emerilware. My griddle doesn't have a single scratch in the coating and it still releases cleanly. I can't promise you for certain that my 10-year old piece is the same as today's set (mine doesn't have the silicone handle), but if it is, you will get excellent durability.
