Farberware claims that they guarantee these pots and pans forever. Well after a short amount of time, the frying pan developed a bulge on the underside of the pan preventing it from sitting flat on the cooking surface. No problem I thought since it was guaranteed..

Well after sending it back to Farberware, they returned it stating that it was probably...

After using the same pots and pans for 40 year, decided it was time to purchase a new set. Seemed like a good Christmas present.

Went to the internet to seek all the information I could find and made my decision. Coupon in hand I went to the store and discovered my choice for stainless cookware was much to heavy and it was empty.

Suddenly, rivted handles were not as important as weight. I had to start over and set about lifting all the stainless cookware to determine which would give me some weight without being too heavy. I don't know if this is a "senior" problem or if everyone finds some cookware very heavy.

Decided on the Farberware Millenium soft touch stainless and have not regretted my decision. I have the even cooking of the encapsulated bottom, I have the riveted handles that are never hot, I have the choice of putting them in the dishwasher and I have the option of using them in the oven.

All of my requirements have been met.

5.0 out of 5 stars Farberware Millennium Excellent!- cleaning/cooking tips...!, February 20, 2006
By
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I was a professional chef, during college.
I HAD happily used heavy gauge, aluminum, non-stick (Teflon... coated) cookware for years. I recently read "several" E-ALERTS, about "ALL" non-stick cookware being strongly linked to cancer... (do a Google search on "non-stick cookware cancer" (sans "quotes"))! BAH HUMBUG!

I proceeded to search for the best "safe" cookware-
Bare aluminum cookware is VERY UNHEALTHY!!!
Cast iron does not heat evenly, heavy, and hard to clean...
Bare stainless does not heat evenly, burns/sticks...
I already had some old Farberware "Classic" stainless cookware, with a thin/bare aluminum clad bottom. So-so!

After reading other reviews- I finally decided to purchase the Farberware "Millennium" 12 piece set. These have "Thick Clad" aluminum bases, that are stainless steel encapsulated.

What a joy- "after" some learning curves...!
Everything cooks sooo evenly, to the outer edge! Covers fit tight... Handles stay cool...! Oven safe to 400.

1. At first- Everything I cooked burned to the bottom. I now use my old normal cooking heat, with 1 to 2... less numbers..., on my GE electric range.
If what I cook, may stick- I first "season it" (wipe on a little Canola... cooking oil/PAM high temp spray, "before" I cook. If it's a "pre-heated" pan, you need to pre-heat, a little longer. I NEVER use High (overheat!)!- Warps, and abuse voids lifetime warranty! I season it "just before!" (or it will burn/stick to pan), I then quickly put the food in. Cooking/burning meat..., over 200 degrees causes carcinogens (cancer) to form!!!

2. Stainless is chemically safe "if" you don't clean it with anything too abrasive (rough scouring releases nickel... into food!- You can taste it!).
I visited the Farberware web site..., and adapted some of their their cleaning suggestions.-
The trick to easy cleanup- is to start with a very clean pan!
First I wash it normally (like non-stick cookware). I scrub it with the ScotchBrite "Dobie" non-abrasive cleaning pad. If I still detect "any" residue- Then I put some water in (1"...), with 1/4 cup of vinegar (I use white). Now I let it boil, until it appears clean (usually just a couple of minutes). Wash/scrub it again, and "TOWEL DRY!" ("air dry"- leaves mineral deposits, that food will stick too).
"Squeeky Clean", and ready to go, for the next time!

GREAT CLEANING TIP"S"!- If you have ANY burned on food (any cookware, BBQ grills...).
a. Mix baking soda in a thick hot water paste, and cover bottom. Cover..., & let stand 24hrs...

b. Mix a little water (thick paste) with Comet cleanser. Rub it on, & then put it in a sealed plastic sack/garbage bag, for 24hrs. It will then easily wash clean! Works great on ALL pans/BBQ grills!

Thank you, and I hope you found my "detailed" review to be helpful!
ENJOY! :o)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent cookware, June 30, 2005

This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I waited until I could review this cookware after six months of daily use so I could give its durability a fair evaluation. The results are now in; it holds up beautifully. Under our normal use with electric burners, I saw no sign of the "bulging" or discoloration reported in a few other reviews. No problems at all, and I was a bit nervous about how well the silicone insulation would stand the test of time.
We were pleasantly surprised by how rapidly and evenly the wider pans heated up compared to our last set of stainless steel cookware. I thought Faberware's story about the imbedded aluminum discs was hype, but I have now seen the results. These pots are also easy to clean, which I was not at all sure about. Since I loathe applying elbow grease for its own sake, I am delighted to report that little has been needed, especially if you let skillets with burned on residues soak for a few hours before working on them. Of course, on perhaps four occasions over six months when nothing else works, you can always use steel wool on this stuff, which you surely would not dare to do on a non-stick surface, and that makes short work of the most encrusted, oxidized nastiness.
When I last was shopping for cookware, I was sorely tempted to blow some larger bucks on the fancy imported stuff. What stopped me was the inevitable lack of insulation on the handles. I am so glad I went with the less pretentious brand, which has served me well for half a year without ever burning my fingers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Farberware Millenium Review, August 22, 2005

This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I been using the pans for about 2 weeks now and I love them. I am a little concerned about warping them so I never heat above Med High and I will not put cold water in a pan that I just used. I let it cool down for about 5-10 minutes first. I also don't put them in the dishwasher even though the instructions say they are dishwasher safe. I just would like to keep the shine a little longer. They are incredibly easy to wash by hand though... amazing. I have cooked bacon and eggs and both came out easily. I use Barkeeper's Friend cleaner once a week to keep the shine also. Incredibly durable pans... just still new to me so am a bit anal about them yet. That will end I'm sure!

I have found good and bad. After 3 weeks of use, I still have not gotten used to the difference between all stainless and non-stick cookware. I decided to go all stainless due to the toxic problems with non-stick.
The Good:
They clean up very easily, just soak in hot water with a little soap. Foods that have sticked require a little scrubbing but not much.
They are not too heavy. This was very important to me. The weight is perfect. Even the 12inch is very manageable using both handles.
The handles stay cool.
They are wonderful for sauteed foods, stews and fry an egg as if non-stick.
The Bad:
The highest temp you can use is medium. This drives me crazy at times.
They heat up slow. It takes 15 minutes for water to boil. Much too long.
The interior becomes a rainbow color even with just a medium heat. I called Farberware about this and they confirmed that this happens to their cookware but would not give me a reason why. They also told me they will discolor if put in the dishwasher. Lemon removes the stain.
To keep it looking good requires work and time. Not much but if you are not used to having to pamper cookware this is a pain.
Do not touch the stainless on the handle or lids or you will get burned.
I cannot make an omelet in the frypan. Sticks every time. Fried egg ok because it is quick, but an omelet-forget it.
The ultimate test is scrambled eggs for any pan. It does come out tasting good and does not stick as long as you cook it on low-med heat and stir constantly otherwise you will be soaking and scrubbing the pan.

I feel the set is good. For the price and weight I am glad I purchased it. Other stainless options will have the same problems and are so much heavier to handle. My husband is insisting that I purchase a non-stick pan for when he makes his eggs. He refuses to fuss with them. My biggest complaints are not due to the cookware but to stainless steel. I do not like having to spend so much extra time cooking. Yes, it is only 5 or 10 extra minutes. I keep telling myself it is worth it for the healthier cooking.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Cookware for a Reasonable Price, August 1, 2006
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch Stainless-Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
We recently bought this cookware to replace our teflon coated set that we received when we got married nine years ago. After all the hype and scare about the dangers of teflon, we decided to go with stainless steel. I bought this set mostly because it offered the most pieces for the money and the sizes of the pots and pans are great. I am also really happy with the look of the Farberware cookware, although the inside of the pots don't stay new and perfect forever. I really like the handles. The soft touch handle is very comfortable and easy to hold. I had to get used to using stainless steel after having the non-stick coating all those years. You definately don't have to use very high heat when cooking because is heats up fast and can burn the food especially when frying. With a little non-stick cooking spray before use, and some immediate soaking after the cooking is done, this cookware cleans up nicely and remains shiny new on the outside. Overall, I am very happy with this set.

After searching high and low for a great set of pots and pans, I came across a review of this set and thought I would give them a try. Wow!!! They perform flawlessly and have a beautiful shine! Don't spend $500 or more on their classy competition. If you love to cook and care about performance (and not what name is stamped on your pans) then these are pots I would overwhelmingly recommend!

I got this set after my husband and I decided to get rid of all our non-stick stuff that we got for our wedding six years ago (some people think it's totally toxic and others think it's really ok if you use it right-- we just decided better safe than sorry). After much research we settled on the Farberware Millennium (recommended by Cook's Illustrated and other sources). Amazon is the only place we could find this set. It has the most pieces and the ones you want. We ordered a set from Cooking.com, but returned it when it didn't have a decent size saucepan. I have been using this set for a couple of months now and couldn't be happier. I was a little worried about the cleaning when going to stainless from non-stick, but it's been no problem. Anything that sticks comes off with dishwashing soap, hot water, and baking soda.

I bought this set of cookware based on reviews here on Amazon.com by other customers. I am a real amateur when it comes to cooking but I like this set. I am learning that when cooking with these pots and pans you do not need to keep the flame on high! That will make it that much more difficult to clean them afterwards.
