5.0 out of 5 stars Farberware Millennium vs Cuisinart Classic
I have been looking for a set to suppliment my Cuisinart set (3+years) for a while. After looking at samples at Target, I have decided on the Farberware Millennium and one day Amazon had a great price.
Right now Farberware is selling at $129 and Cuisinart 10 pieces at $109 with a muffan pan and tool set rebate.
Both are great sets, but here's the difference...

3.0 out of 5 stars One pot didn't even last through first use...
Had really high hopes for this set but sadly I had an experience just like someone else posted here with the inside base of a pot erupting with corrosion pits and bumps after just one use of boiling water. Very disappointing. Water was not allowed to boil dry in the pot but I do believe the residual heat caused the weak metal to instantly corrode like this. Boiled...

5.0 out of 5 stars Farberware Millennium vs Cuisinart Classic, October 28, 2007
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
Both are great sets, but here's the difference.
Farberware's silicone wrapped handle feels better than Cusinart, although cusinart's handle does not heat up in cooking either.
Farberware's lid, again with wrapped handle, is definitely better than Cusinart's. Both lids heat up and you will appreciate the silicone wrap.
Cuisinart has a great mirror finish inside and out; Farberware's finish outside is not as brilliant, inside is almost a matte finish.
Stainless steel is not truely non-stick. The better you keep the mirror finish, the more stick resistant they are. I've had the Cusinart for a long time and it held up really well (no abrasive cleaning). I may have to come back and update you on the non-stick nature of Farberware, but so far so good.
The Farberware Millennium is more modern and expensive looking especially with the graphite colored silicone handles. The Millennium' edges also fare better because they are more rounded and your dishwasher will be happier with it.
If they are selling at the same price, I'd go for Farberware Millennium.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well with induction cooktop, September 4, 2008

This stuff heats up super fast and is very efficient with induction technology. I have a good set of cookware that I like very much, but which doesn't work as well as I'd like with my new induction burner. I looked hard to find something that would serve that purpose and found it in this set. I'd done some research and was disappointed to find some cookware says it works with induction, but it really isn't the ideal choice as it doesn't heat up all that fast. Other advertised cookware is very expensive. I just wanted something that would function well with this one burner and wouldn't break the bank. I'm very pleased with this set. While it works on a standard electric or gas cooktop, it is perfect for induction technology and it doesn't seem to have much competition in that department. Highly recommended for that purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Farberware Millennium A-1, January 20, 2009

This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I've been cooking with my Farberware Millennium set for 9+ years and would not trade them for anything. Friends and family told me I was crazy for buying a stainless steel set without a anti-stick coating. I never had problems with sticking and my pots and pans still cook and look great. Now friends and family ask if those were the same set I bought 9 years ago? I just smile and ask how many sets they have had? I originally bought them because of their highly polished inside and out quality finish and fit. This set is the Harley-Davidson of cookware; quality and finish in a timeless appearance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Faberware is GREAT cookware!, February 6, 2010
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
After looking at 3 different brands of stainless steel cookware, and reading Amazon reviews on all the brands (Faberware, Wear Ever Cook & Strain, and T-Fal), I chose the Faberware Millenium 12 piece set with soft touch handles.

While I was debating which brand, I remembered I still had a couple of Faberware pots handed down to me from my Grandmother 30 years ago. These were the only 2 pots, and lids, that I had consistently used over my 30 years of marriage... and were still useable! Although they are showing their wear after what must be 40 to 45 years of use.

I looked at the Classic in the store, and it sure looked like those old pots of Grandma's.

The difference between the Classic and the Millineum was mainly in the handles (the Millineum looks even sturdier than the Classic..and it lasted 45 years, mind you) and the skillets for the Millineum were not non-stick but full stainless steel inside. I have gone through so many sets of non-stick skillets through the years, with all of them eventually scratching, peeling and rusting no matter how careful I attempted to use them, that I had determined no more non-stick. So I chose the Millineum for a great price at Fred Meyer's ($129.99) and the $50 manufacture rebate...so this set will have cost me $79.99.

This morning I decided to test the 10 inch skillet...I put it on my glass stove top burner, followed the advice of the manufacturer and the Amazon reviewers, and turned the heat to medium. (My other pans had required high heat to cook anything well.)

I cooked two slices of bacon, beautifully, poured out the grease, wiped the pan out, not bothering to clean the bacon residue, and then cooked a batch of eggs flawlessly. The eggs easily came out of the pan (I always add a little water when I cook eggs as I prefer steamed eggs to truly fried eggs).

Okay...now the real test...I had bacon and egg residue on the bottom of a stainless steel pan...not horribly stuck on...but a definite gunky residue...so again I followed the manufacturer's recommendation and poured in a little vinegar to the left over egg water and boiled for about a minute while I swished with the plastic spatula that came in my set. I was amazed...the sticky residue swooshed right off. I rinsed with warm soap and water, had to use a sponge in a couple of small spots in the pot crease...but the thing cleaned up beautifully and practically effortlessly.

I'm sold...why I haven't bought Faberware before over the years I'll never know. Excellent set. Excellent brand.

EDIT: Months later. Set is still beautiful. Forgot what I was doing and burned down rice badly in one pot..Bar Tenders Friend removed the heavy blackened stain, with some moderate scrubbing, flawlessly. Pot looks as beautiful as ever. These pots will last as well as my grandmother's!

3.0 out of 5 stars One pot didn't even last through first use..., August 24, 2010

This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
Boiled water in another pot to see if the same thing would happen, only this time I filled the pot up with water again after pouring out the boiling water and this seems to have helped avoid the problem. So, my advice for anyone purchasing this set is to not only not let water boil dry in them but to never let them sit hot without any liquid in them, even after cooking. It's too bad because it's a beautiful looking set but I just don't think it's high enough quality metal.

Overall this is a great set of pots and pans. As far as cooking goes, they do the job and look good doing it. However, be very careful not to burn them, because I've found if you do, even slightly, it will be virtually impossible to remove.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS COOKWARE, November 16, 2008
This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
This set is ideal for those who want solid made cookware. It's very heavy and well made. The only downfall is the handles get a little hot to the touch. My other Farberware (Classic) never had to worry about that. I love them so much I also got a couple pans in the non stick also. I would say the product is very well worth the money. They seem like they will last a lifetime.

4.0 out of 5 stars built to last, June 20, 2010

I purchased millenium after I bought enamel set and read instructions not to be used with ceramic tops. Stinless steel makes pots pretty heavy but very durable. Takes awhile for them to heat up on ceramic top, but then they stay hot and consistant. Had some food burn on and had problems getting off, put some vineger and water then let soak for hour and came right off. Food seems to stick less the more I use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Set For The Money, May 23, 2010

I bought this set last year and I am very pleased with it. They look nice, cook evenly and clean up nicely. The silicone wrapped handles are a plus. I can grab these of the stove top bare handed. The price was great. At the time they were $[...]. with a $40 rebate. $69 for this set is a bargain. My only complaint is I wish it were a little heavier. All in all I am very pleased with this set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Farberware An Excellent Value, January 6, 2009

This review is from: Farberware Millennium Soft Touch 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
Well, it was a long time coming. I finally replaced my Calphalon pots and pans (teflon coated) with a stainless steel clad set, and I am very glad I chose Farberware. These pots and pans are made extremely well, with solid rivets on the handles; good quality steel and the glass covers are nicely made as well. They clean up beautifully, and if you get a stain on them, just soak them in water for a bit and it takes care of it! Compared to the other brands, Farberware is an excellent value and I highly recommend them.
