Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Perfect for a family, this 18-by-10-inch griddle spans two burners and cooks eight big burgers at once. It's equally spacious when everyone wants pancakes, eggs, hash browns, fish, steaks, or grilled-cheese sandwiches. With a thick aluminum core, the griddle delivers all the speed and even heat a diner's short-order cook could desire. The nonstick surface releases food easily and relieves the pot washer from the scrubbing blues. Two other features stand out: handles are solidly riveted, and there's a spout on one corner for pouring off grease. --Fred Brack

Product Description

Stretch this out across two burners and you'll have brunch or breakfast prepared for the whole family in short order. No more waiting for French toast, or serving cold sausages with your eggs! Also very convenient for cooking grilled cheese sandwiches and other foods. Non-stick means food slides off easily and clean up is short and sweet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does work on some smooth-top stoves, January 17, 2002

This review is from: Farberware Nonstick Double Burner Griddle (Kitchen)
I purchased this griddle in spite of the warning that it wasn't suitable for solid plate or ceramic stovetops because my ceramic stovetop has a special "bridge" burner - that is, a section of the stove between two burners that heats up, connecting the two burners into one large, oblong burner. I called Farberware to make sure it was okay to use their griddle on this type of burner, and they said it was fine. I just used the griddle for the first time and it worked beautifully. This griddle also claims to also be suitable for gas, radiant ring (standard electric) and halogen stovetops. It is a heavy-duty, well-crafted, attractive piece of cookware that is also easy to clean (the wrapper says it's dishwasher safe, though I prefer to hand-wash it).

4.0 out of 5 stars Just some dimensional information..., June 23, 2002

One of the things that's important is the dimensions of these things to make sure they'll fit on your stove, so here goes:

The actual griddle part is 18 inches by 10 inches with a tapered edge so the usable cooking area is 17.5 inches by 9.5 inches. The handles stick out 2 inches each, so the length of the griddle with the handles is 22 inches.

Anyway, I gave it a 4 because I've used it about 10 times now and managed to get a small nick in the teflon--I'd prefer if it was a bit tougher. Other than that, it works great.

1.0 out of 5 stars CAUTION!!! If you have a solid surface cooktop., January 22, 2004

When I ordered this griddle I did not see any warning about not using it on a solid surface cooktop. It was, however, clearly stated on the packing instructions. If I had known this before I would not have ordered it. Since we had it, we still gave it a try to see if maybe it was one of those warnings that was somehow exaggerated. Turns out it wasn't! The coating on the bottom of the griddle began to separate from the griddle and became attached to the cooktop. I don't think we did any permanent damage -- but we'll never use it on the cooktop again. We still need a double griddle for our cooktop. My wife did find a use for the griddle for baking in the oven. The handles on the end are "handy".
