The versatile array of knives in this 11-piece set equips a cook with essential blades for both the kitchen and the dining room. Stamped from high-carbon stainless steel, the knives are an 8-inch chef's knife for rocking through chopping tasks, an 8-inch slicing knife for carving roasts and poultry, a 5-inch boning/utility knife with a stiff blade, a 3-inch paring knife, and four 4-1/2-inch steak knives for when meat is on the table. Rugged synthetic handles are attached to full tangs with three stainless-steel rivets for traditional style. Accompanying the knives are a 9-inch sharpening steel to keep edges aligned and an 8-inch pair of kitchen shears with a bottle opener between the handles. All pieces fit in an oval hardwood storage block slanted for easy access, with the steak knives stored in a lower tier on the block's front. The knives are dishwasher-safe but should be hand washed to preserve edges.
