This spatula performs well right up until the first time you wash it.

You cannot EVER submerge this in water, or put it in the dishwasher, because the handle is HOLLOW and does not seal properly around the shaft of the spatula. It looks like it's molded of one piece but it's not. It fills up with water that then drips out when you're trying to use it.

All of the farberware tools in this line have this serious flaw.

EDIT: June 16, 2012

I had a Farberware 5070532 10 in. Whisk with this handle flaw and finally tossed it yesterday. It dribbled water down my wrist for the last time!

I eventually gave up and pulled the shaft out of the handle of my spatulas (I had 3, what a waste!), and threw all the handles away. Now I have short awkward spatulas!

It's too bad because I REALLY like the head on these. But the handle was a very bad design.

This spatula is the best one I have ever owned. The head and the handle separate for easy cleaning; dry them separately and you have no problems with dripping! It hugs bowls and pots beautifully, getting every last bit out - and it's fairly nonstick, so the food drops off of it into the new container easily. Since it's so heat resistant, I've even been able to use it for candy making!

I love the Farberware spatula set. The first time I washed it and used it, I was outraged just like everybody else when the water came dripping out of the 'joint' between the handle and the scoop. Then I realized that it was actually a design for durability and ease-of-cleaning. After I saw that, I ve always separated the two pieces and washed & dried them separately. I put them back together when they are dry. And so far, they ve lasted so well after using them almost everyday for 3+ years. Drip-free too!!
