Whether it was because of shipping or a manufacturing defect, the pan came a bit scratched. Also the handle is almost parallel to the pan, which makes grabbing the handle difficult when the pan is on the stove. The handle should be angled higher, so you can get your fingers around it. Also, the inner surface is less than 10 inches in diameter, which seems to be common from reviews about other crepe pans.

6/29/06 update:
The pan I had was defective. The new one did not have the same problems as the original. This pan cooks very well. The crepes turned out very thin and had a great shape. No sticking either. An all around great crepe pan.

I have owned all types of crepe pans and this is the first one that has been perfect. A perfect crepe everytime. No need to to do anything but put the batter on and let it cook. Slides right off like butter!!!

reading others' reviews, i can say i did not receive a defective pan 'cos crepes definitely slid from this pan with the greatest of ease. however, as is the case with any number of manufacturers of non-stick cookware, the best this pan could offer me was pale-colored browning and, when compared to the typhoon manufactured non-stick crepe pan i decided to keep (it's advertised as a pancake pan), i found a difference in the crepes' textures. for my taste, the crepes cooked in this pan were slightly spongy while the crepes cooked in the typhoon pan offered up perfect texture. the farberware pan has a "textured" surface which, i'm assuming, contributes to the easy release nature of the non-stick surface (vs. being a manufacturing defect) so perhaps having an uneven cooking surface prevents the batter from coming into total contact with the heat from the cookstove? the typhoon pan is commercial carbon steel (making it a bit heavier) and it's non-stick surface is slick -- both of which might account for the better cooked texture?

in addition, the difference in size (10 inch farberware vs. 11 inch typhoon) is only one inch BUT, when comparing the cooked crepes, the crepes cooked in the 11 inch typhoon pan looked significantly larger. i like that -- one large "dinner" or "dessert" crepe vs. two smaller ones should translate into less calories, less carbs, etc.

of course, as always, your miles may vary ;-)

I was pleasantly surprised when I received this pan. This is the unstickiest piece of cookware I have ever owned. Even I could flip crepes into the air with a flick of the wrist! Crepes are fun to make and so yummy. My picky 8 year old brother ate all that I could make and asked for more!

I'm thrilled with this find. Crapes just slide out of this pan and it makes crepes-making very easy. I bought another one to make omlette and i's working great. You won't regret purchasing this one.

I make crepes a lot. Crepes are, in general, quick to prepare and easy to make. I have a couple of different crepe pans I use, my favourite being a Calphalon crepe pan. I've had good luck with crepes in everything from cheaply-purchased Calphalon frying pans in the 'seconds' section of stores to Analon pans purchased cheaply from Amazon.

I thought I'd pick this up because a) it's machine washable, b) it's got a nice look, and c) it got high reviews on Amazon. I thought it might be nice to give it a shot as a quick, easy to clean, cheap pan I could use for Sunday morning crepe cravings.

BIG mistake. This has the worst non-stick coating I think I've ever used, and the design is incredibly substandard. It heats very unevenly, burning portions of the crepe while not cooking others, and then has to be scraped off just to get the leftover crepe bits off that stuck to the coating. This was AFTER I'd sprayed the pan. Just terrible. It might be good for frying bacon or a grilled cheese sandwich or some such, but for crepes, this pan is a flop.

I got this crepe pan for my wife for Christmas for about ten bucks. The actual pan part is great and it's makes the crepe making easier. The only problem is that the handle is a bit flimsy, especially where it connects to the pan. Other than that, it was a good deal I think.
