It boils water but does not whistle.
Tammy
What I don't like about this teakettle is that in order to pour water out of the kettle, you have to place your thumb into the steam in order to open the spout.

Perfect tea kettle for making a couple cups of tea, coffee, etc. at a time.

It is ok for the price, but one can see that it is not an high quality item.
Anyway, it boils water, it whistle, it pours. For the low price I can't complain.
Notice that the handle get very hot if you bring the water to a full boiling, that's probably due to the small size of the kettle, which leaves the handle close to the heat.

PLEASE KEEP SHOPPING!! This little tea kettle seemed like a nice buy but, it turned out not to be a case.
the inside started to rust after only a few uses CMON!! its supposed to hold water!!
and no I did not let water sit I would empty what was not used.
I suggest you spend more money & get a kettle you can enjoy for longer than a month.

The size is right, but I bought it to make an alarming and annoying whistle, which it doesn't. It does, however, make an annoying watery mess on the stovetop. Faberware USED to be a reliable product, but it has gone the way of all outsourcers.

I bought this and loved it at first. I used it one time with no problems. When I went to use it the second time, the bottom of the pot was warped and it made the kettle wobble. When the water started to boil the whole thing rocked back and forth and it took a long time for the water to boil. I ended up holding the kettle down so that it would stay flat and boil. I asked for a return on this and they didn't even require me to send it back.

Admittedly, I trolled many sites looking for a teakettle in my price range. This is an odd purchase in the age of microwave ovens, but there is a marked difference in boiled just right water and warmed microwave water.

The design is simple but elegant, and once you can get used to the flip top (where it quietly whistles from once ready) then the pour is okay. Perhaps if the spout was a tad longer, we'd see five stars here.

It gets visibly dirty if left on a stove after you fry an egg or do anything on another burner, so you will find yourself washing it a lot to keep it pretty unless you have a shelf to keep it on.

I normally don't write a review as I'm not too picky with my purchases. This product, however, performed so poorly that I felt I need to get the word out. I got this back in November 2013 and have only used it maybe five to ten times (it's now May 2014). Every time it's used, I can smell plastic burning. I guess that should have be the first sign to stop using it, but I'm cheap and wanted my money's worth so I continued. Well today, the plastic part near the opening/whistle melted. I didn't leave it on the burner for it to melt either. The water was boiled and I took it off the hot plate and let it stand. It just melted by itself (it's probably caused by the hot water inside, but err.. this is a tea kettle... that is supposed to store... hot water..).

So I called Farberware as I think it's ridiculous for a product to die on me after so little use. I find out there's no warranty on this product. And I'm not surprised why... So, save your $11 and look for something else. Good thing it was only $11.

I had a small Farberware teakettle for years. Until my husband burned it on the stove. This looked like the nearest replacement. But no. The metal is so thin, cardboard would be heavier. The removable top has razor-sharp edges and the opening is barely two inches wide - no hand or sponge can fit in to clean it. It didn't look safe to boil water in so I threw it away. Sadly, Farberware now belongs strictly in the Dollar Store.
