a troubling prophecy,

Even more troubling reading this book now, than 25 years ago in high school. How did all of this come true? (What forces on high--or down below--are at work in the world!?! It is well-written, too, nuanced and complex. It's not the "best" book I've ever read, but it's a very important book to read. It would have been an easy read, an enjoyable read, if I were reading it in 1953 instead of now (I can't believe this was written in 1953).. (Ironic that this was required reading in school! I'm sure that it's not anymore...)
