5.0 out of 5 stars This is what I'm talking about!!
These work, well. Period. I tried the Audiovox IR2CFF first, but returned them. These Farenheits receive much better and are much more forgiving. They work very well in our 2008 Nissan Armada, and being 2 channel, they work great with the factory IR system, as well as our aftermarket DVD system that's installed in the factory overhead console. Sound quality is very good,...

3.0 out of 5 stars 2004 Chrysler Town and Country
These headphones look great and come with some nice features, auto off and case. Unfortunately, they did not work with my vehicle. I have a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country with the factory DVD player. In the process of returning to try another type of headphone.

Sound quality is very good, and comfort also good. They are the "over the ear" type, so they block out more noise than surface style headphones. My kids are 6, 8 and 9, and they fit them all just fine, no problems. The carry case is very nice as well, as is the ability to use them as a wired headset with an MP3 player or iPod. The only downside, and this is very minor, is that the channel selector and power switch are all built into one switch. I would like to have seen the channel selector be independent of the power switch. Again though, minor. For the money, you can't go wrong with these. I may order a 4th pair.

Recieve the headset on time and was what I expected. I am hard of hearing and my wife hears a pin drop. The the infrared wiewless headset is a marriage saver.. while watching TV!! We each have our own level of hearing!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with Volvo Entertainment system, December 3, 2011

I purchased these headphones for the Entertainment system in our 2008 Volvo XC90. It is a dual channel IR system, and the Fahrenheit HP-12S headphones work perfectly with both channels. At the rate our kids break headphones, this is a much more econonical option than the $185 headhones from the dealer.

I bought these to use in my 2008 Honda Odyssey. They were very easy to use and much more comfortable than the factory ones that come with the vehicle(bought the vehicle used). I pretty much took it out of the box, put in batteries and turned them on. I especially love the fact that they have a volume control. We've only used them on one road trip thus far so I can't speak to the durability. I have a 5 and 8 year old so the storage case is very welcomed also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just a bit tight for adult ears, but great nonetheless, December 3, 2011

I think an earlier reviewer meant the arch over the head was too big for small kids. True. However, the ear muffs themselves are child-sized. I have small ears and my ears barely fit inside the muffs. "Tight" would be the best word. The speakers respond well to different sound settings (apparent distance and frequency adjustments on the sound card/board). Try these with a male-male cable. I found the frequency and clarity to be almost as good as my $200 Sony lab 'phones.

I use this pair for my portable ham radio set when I don't have to travel so light that I only bring one ear bud. I can walk away from the set and still hear the calls, which is crucial in nasty weather and noisy crowds.

I also travel with a separate (different purchase, different venue) A/B channel IR transmitter to plug into Hotel TVs (when I'm not working the Ham radio net), and listen with these 'phones. While I'm working the Ham Radio net I can feed into the IR A/B transmitter the output signal from two different radio sets, using different radio frequencies on each channel ("A" communicate to the outside world, "B" communicate with the on-site team). I merely slide the A/B switch on the headset to pick up one set of transmissions while cutting out the other. For those who are pilots, this is like having an intercom circuit to passengers and a tx/rx circuit to towers. Very convenient.

The set when folded in its case is not much bigger than a DVD package. I easily tuck in spare batteries and a 6ft male-male 3.5mm cable for when 'phone set batteries fail. Belts and suspenders kind of thing when you work a radio 24/7, you know?

If the stars were for only comfort, these are 2, but for me a 4-level comfort starts at $200 and I'm talking for use over 6-8 hours of clamped-on-the-ears. But my most comfortable 'phones carry only one channel plus they tether me to the radio/computer/TV/camera/airplane. I just hate it when I forget, start to walk away, and get my head yanked by the headset. And then the danged cord decides to snag something, or flips a crucial switch, or gets itself stepped on. Cords are like puppies, always underfoot and with minds of their own, not really listening to what you ask them to do.

I checked out BlueTooth headsets, but that technology litterally has a built-in audio delay factor (from receive at set to producing sound at 'phones). When my need is to listen in real time, that delay makes two-way conversation very unstable. For instance, maybe you've noticed that "feature" on your cell phone's BlueTooth ear piece? You start talking, they start talking because they cannot hear you are talking, then you stop talking because you hear them talking, then they stop talking because they finally heard you talking then nobody is talking, so you both start talking... That is why I (a professional in the audio field) chose IR. Sound is transmitted real-time with IR. Real-time is not important if you are listening to mp3 or a dvd player by yourself. On TV or computer you might even be able to "speed up" the sound track so audio matches the video. But real-time is crucial when you are talking to medics or panicked people on the other end of the conversation, and you cannot adjust people with a software tweak. Not yet anyway, thank goodness!

Even with cell phones, I will turn off the BlueTooth ear piece and talk and listen directly to the phone, or at least listen by wired ear bud. Hmmmm, I suppose now I could put the cell phone on the IR "B" channel, eh?

Because these HP-12S are probably the best dual-channel wireless dollar-per-hour-of-use 'phones in my extensive collection of professional headphones, they get a 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome piece with very reasonable price!, November 23, 2011

I bought this head phone for my daughter's newly installed headrest dvd player. I bought one just to try it out because once the dvd is on, I can't use the radio to listen to any music. I'm very pleased with my purchase. The product looks great and work very good for the price. The sound quality is great, clear and the unit fits comfortably with my 7 year old daughter's head. The foam around the actual earpiece fits well and comfortable. No problem with picking up the reception all the way at the back of the van. Auto shut off is an add on because kids will tend to leave them on always.

I will definitely buy another one for my 3 year old boy. The protective case is very useful as it fits perfectly at the back of the seat pocket when put away.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who wanted to enjoy their own music while driving their vehicle with the kids.

I was worried these might not work in my car but the price quoted by the Volvo garage was $140 so it was worth a try. They work perfectly in my 2006 Volvo XC90 and in tandem with other headphones. I am thinking of getting a third pair for an extra passenger. If ordering you will also need 2 x AAA batteries.

Good deal for wireless vehicle use....only works with an ipod/iphone with an adapter (sold seperately) that makes them hard wired, so they wont be wireless. Good quality.
