Once I listened to the band "Rare Air" back in the 80's I knew that we could hear tunes with wit and wisdom and PIPES! Moore and Lee have expanded beyond that by adding some jazzy sax. Some reviewers may say that reed instruments don't mix!? But, like the tang of vinegar and spice can enliven a meal for taste buds sax and pipes can produce similar stimulation for the ears. While the experimentation here may have a rough spot, "Farewell to Decorum" like the earlier "Bee's Knees" provides much toe tapping enjoyment. I have had many enjoyable listens, worth ever penny for those that like pipes and jazz NOT JUST traditional folk.

I loved Hamish Moore's Steppin' on the Bridge. But whohad the bright idea that bagpipes and trombones and saxophones mix???? They mix like oil and water...After listening to this I threw away the CD and used the jewel case to replace another that was cracked. Yuk! If you want a great smallpipe CD check out Steppin' on the Bridge...pass this dog by. |
