5.0 out of 5 stars Fargo Country is my country., November 25, 2007

This review is from: Fargo Country (Audio CD)
In my opinion this is the best of the Donna Fargo lp's. This is an excellent collection of songs. Mockingbird Hill, Do I Love You (Yes In Every Way, I Want To Learn A Love Song, A Couple More Years are cover songs. She was an excellent interpreter of other peoples songs. Her originals, as always, were excellent. She never recorded an album as satisfying as this again. "Dark-Eyed Lady", "Fargo" and possibly "Winners" were all excellent cd's. I would easily recommend all of these. I wasn't as fond of "Shame On Me" or "Just for You". However, EVERY Donna Fargo cd would be a great addition to any music lovers collections.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely wonderful nostalgic treat, July 5, 2005
This review is from: Fargo Country (Audio CD)
Back in the 1970s Donna Fargo had a voice that could light up the room and a stage presence that marked her as someone very special in the competitive field of country music to anyone who saw her perform. Now Collectables Records (a premiere producer of "time lost classics" in American music noted for the breadth, diversity, and sheer size of their music catalog) offers Fargo Country in which the talents of Donna Fargo are once again made available to a whole new generation of country music fans -- and an absolutely wonderful nostalgic treat for those who first knew her work almost thirty years ago. The pieces showcased in Fargo Country include: Mockingbird Hill (2:58); Do I Love You (Yes In Every Way (3:07); I Want To Learn A Love Song (3:32); Second Choice (2:29); Sing Me (2:53); The Cricket Song (2:38); A Couple More Years (3:53); Hey, Mister Music Man (2:10); That Was Yesterday (3:17); and Gifts Of Life (2:53).

5.0 out of 5 stars Donna in peak form, May 16, 2005
This review is from: Fargo Country (Audio CD)
With an eye-catching (but wholesome) picture of Donna on the cover and a brilliant set of songs, this album proved very successful with American country fans when originally released.

Two major country hits (That was yesterday, Do I love you) showed that Donna was in peak form. The album also includes Donna's wonderful covers of A couple more years (Dr Hook) and Mockingbird Hill, which was a huge American hit in 1951 for both Patti Page and the duo of Les Paul and Mary Ford, it was later a top ten UK hit for the Migil 5 in the sixties. Other great songs include I want to learn a love song, Cricket song and Gifts of life.

This is one of Donna's finest albums and it's great to see it available on CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Donna Fargo does it with "style"!, April 28, 2005
This review is from: Fargo Country (Audio CD)
I am amazed each time I listen to this cd. Donna Fargo does each song with style. All country music fans need to give a listen to this awesome masterpiece. My favorites are: "Sing Me", "I Want To Learn a Love Song", "That Was Yesterday", "Gifts of Life", and "Do I Love You". I play this cd over and over. My teen age children have found Donna's sound to be so real and current even though this was released in 1977. I urge everyone who loves country music to give a listen to this great piece and you will be totally delighted!!
