This review is from: Farinelli: La Musique du Film [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
This has to be one of the finest collections of period music available, bar none. Wonderful performances (both vocal and instrumental)but perhaps even more important, an amazing selection of music, especially assorted Handel pieces. Simply a must-have disk!!!

Don't watch the movie,
This review is from: Farinelli : La musique du film (MP3 Download)
The sound track is superb because they digitally (supposedly) mixed a soprano and tenors' voices to come up with the "castrato" sound...the songs are beautiful, as is the musical compositions, but if you have time, or are just curious and wish to look up the lyrics in English, they aren't happy songs...and why would they be when you have the world bowing at your feet due to your musical ability, but can never be a father...if you so choose...since the decision is made for you at a tender young age and then they perform surgery on you so that your voice will never become a male's lower voice - all for the arts.
However, though the music was wonderfully arranged, do NOT watch the movie. The acting is poor, the plot...what there is of it (need I say more) are awful.
