This is a double review. I bought Farm Frenzy for the DS and Farmtopia at the same time.

Farm Frenzy and Farmtopia are time management games. They are almost identical games. You start out with ducks in Farm Frenzy and Geese in Farmtopia. You collect the eggs they drop. Send the eggs and other items the animals drop to market to make money to buy other animals, upgrades on your truck, plane and storage, and different factories. Watch out for the bears. These critters drop down from the sky and if they touch your animals you lose the animals they touch. Quickly tap on the touch screen repeatedly to capture the bear in a cage. Put him in your storage and send him to market for money too.

These are fast paced games, but broken down into minutes of play. For example, one round may last 3 minutes and you have to collect 5 ducks, 10 bread and $1000 cash. If you make it in the three minutes you win the gold trophy. If you make it in 5 minutes you get the silver trophy. If it takes you longer, that's okay too-just no trophy. Based on the amount of time you took you earn money to upgrade your factories, storage etc. The good part- You can replay any level you want. You'll earn more money and may get the trophy the next time around.

I have played all the Farm Frenzy games on the computer and was excited to get it on the DS. Unfortunately on the DS I am running into a few issues. You must tap on the item exactly. I keep losing eggs, breads etc. because you have to touch the exact spot. If the item happens to be down by the truck then my screen will go to the market screen and I hit return only to have it happen again and again. It's very frustrating. Everything in this game seems kind of small so maybe that's why it's hard to click the item. I do have the DSI XL and that should make it easier but still there is frustration.

In Farmtopia I find it is much easier to hit the exact spot and collect the item. I actually can't believe how similar these games are. Farmtopia looks like a cheap knock off of Farm Frenzy yet does not have the frustration of the touch screen.

I am about a quarter of the way through both games so maybe the controls will get better in Farm Frenzy or I will get use to it. If not then I'll play through only Farmtopia. I really do enjoy these kinds of time management games and it bothers me to have to give Farm Frenzy only 4 Stars because of the controls because I know what a fun game it is.

If you've never played Farm Frenzy, it is just like the computer game Farm Frenzy. If you want to see what it's about you can download a free 30 minutes trial of this on your pc from Amazon.

Overall I would recommend these games if you like the time management genre.

We gave this game to my daughter for her 8 year old birthday. At first, she was very frustrated with it because she thought all it had was the "chicken game". I was surprised by her comment, so I sat down to play the game with her. The chicken game is just at the very beginning where you start off with a couple of chickens and then they lay eggs and you have to then sell the eggs. There are time limits and as you progress the games get harder and you get to do more things than just sells eggs. You make/sell baked goods and then games with other animals are introduced. The introduction of a new animal is always exciting. We are now up to cows. First chickens, then pigs and now cows. As my husband and I played the game, it became very addictive to us. It is now my daughter's favorite game. I highly recommend this game. There may be instructions that came with the game, if so, then it might be useful to read them! Instructions probably would have eliminated her earlier frustration to the game. If I had to do it over again, I would have sat down with her to play it from the beginning.

As a lover of FarmVille, I thought this game would be similar. Couldn't be further from it. The ENTIRE GAME consists of you tapping on things...tap on an egg to pick it up, tap on the building for eggs to turn it into something, then tap on the product and then tap on another building, repeat. There are only five animals...and two are a cat and dog which don't product anything. The cat helps you pick up your stuff, which takes away half of your tapping. The dog is supposed to scare away bears that fall from the sky and kill your animals (?!?!) but he's not very good at it. All the upgrades you put into each little level don't carry over, so in EVERY LEVEL you have to fight to upgrade your buildings to finish...finish your tapping.

This game is hard...I am a very experienced lifelong Nintendo player and I honestly can't get the "gold" or whatever in over half these levels because I cannot figure out how to earn enough money to upgrade quickly.

For example...you start with six chickens, but have to end up with a feathered hat as your end product. So, here's how that goes...sell some chickens and harvest some eggs, turn them into products, try to get enough money to buy a pig (and then cow) and collect all their stuff, upgrade their building, on and on until you can afford an ostrich, etc etc. There are so many steps in this game, which consists of NOTHING BUT TAPPING...I've left out about thirty steps in the process to get a feathered hat. Or whatever it is.

The graphics are poor. You don't get to build anything on your farm...everything just pops up automatically and everything looks the same. No variety, NO FUN, and DEFINITELY not a game for children. Or adults. Anyone.

I like to play really basic strategy games on my DS between classes so my brain doesn't have to work to hard. The game doesn't give a lot of guidance or explanations you basically have to figure things out on your own so I wouldn't recommend it for a younger child but definitely teen and maybe preteen would understand and have fun.

Before I bought this I read other reviews about people being stuck at one part and not understanding what to do... I didn't understand this. It is an easy game to follow, feed the chickens, collect eggs, turn eggs into other things, then turn those things into other things. It is basically a ripple effect of items and you have to learn to manage your time well.

I think this game overall is really fun (no I haven't finished it yet) and when you finish a level you get a medal for your time and you can always go back and try to beat your time which is challenging yourself. It isn't the type of game that gets repetitive or ends quickly.

I love all time management games, but it took me awhile to try this one out. I wasn't sure managing a farm would be like time management, but it ended up being lots of fun - and challenging. There were certain levels that I had to attempt more than once to beat them. I loved the added elements of needing to order in supplies and sell products during gameplay. The only downside is that I think I beat it, but I don't know for sure...Nothing happened when I completed what I thought was the last level. Totally worth the money and time!

As others have said, I'm stuck on the chicken farm -- level 1. I thought I'd give it a try and see if I could figure it out. NO INSTRUCTIONS with this game at all! I'll go online and see if other players have posted hints, but I'm ready to toss it out at this point.

I am an adult, and have played a LOT of games of this type. Just too frustrating to have a game that could be fun lock you into level 1 with no instructions or hints.

I came across this game when I purchased my PC Notebook. I thought it would be similar to farmsville but boy is it fun. I just love this game. It is very enjoyable to play. I think what is fun is trying to accomplish the goals on each level. I would recommend this. No complaints. It is really an enjoyable game to play. I love it!!!

I played Farm Frenzy on my PC at home a lot and was happy to find it for my DS. It's fun to play while traveling.
If you know Farm Frenzy, you know it's not an action game, it's more relaxing than anything. The DS version delivers the same options as the PC game and it's as much fun.

My kids wanted this because their grandparents had a farm, so they were very into that. This was interesting for them for about 10 minutes. I don't even think they played it after they first got it. I don't recommend.
