5.0 out of 5 stars "Eggactly just right"
I love this little book. The simple yet beautiful pictures on the book jacket invite you to look further. It feels like just the right size and weight in your hands. The introduction gives you just the right amount of information about eggs and chickens with just the right amount of down home charm. It has just the right amount and variety of delicious, easy to follow...

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing
I thought this book was going to deal with how to cook with different size and types of eggs....as you'd find on a farmstead... One quick mention in the beginning of the book and after that it's just a basic egg cookbook...with few recipes.

Had I seen it first, I would not have purchased it.

The introduction gives you just the right amount of information about eggs and chickens with just the right amount of down home charm. It has just the right amount and variety of delicious, easy to follow recipes; sprinkled throughout with inspiring pictures and helpful comments.
As an added bonus the author has a fun, easy to use websight which has more information about keeping hens, reccomendations of other websights and links, books and much more fun, including my favorite; a webcam inside and out of her chicken coop. I just ordered more copies to give to friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars both a practical cookbook AND a super-cute gift book, September 1, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Farmstead Egg Cookbook (Hardcover)
This is a really nice book of recipes that use eggs. It has beautiful photography and is a nice small size -- I agree with the previous comment that it has a lovely "feel" in the hand. A very high quality publishing effort.

From the right way to hard boil and scramble eggs to some sophisticated tastes, this book has a great deal to offer. Desserts, breakfasts, lunches, dinners... it is all here. :) Fresh eggs (from the farmer's market or your own hens) actually work a little differently in recipes, and the author explains that, too.

I bought this book to find some new uses for the zillions of eggs my three hens are providing for our family. The author is actually a trained chef who happens to love having some backyard chickens. She shares some interesting information about her chicken adventures while providing a wide variety of recipes for every palate!

With our small flock of back yard chickens(6 girls) we were inundated with eggs. There are only so much a family of 3 can eat and push on neighbors. I had heard about this book through friends and my local book store didnt have it(or know the authors name. The Barnes and Noble employee's are fools)
So I came to Amazon knowing that I would be able to not only find the book, but also at a good price.

Not disappointed. The book has wonderful recipes for farm fresh eggs. Some a a bit "fancy" but I now have a excellent egg cook book for using all the fresh eggs I get daily.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for all, especially cooks, poultry enthusiasts, photographers, March 11, 2008

Well written, witty and wonderful! An insider's view of the incredible, edible egg and the most successful ways to enjoy cooking and consuming them. Terry is a poultry enthusiast extraordinnaire...she even has a "Hencam" so folks around the world can enjoy watching her hens too on their computer! Happy, healthy hens on the world wide web! I have a copy of the cookbook for myself and keep several on hand to give as gifts. Be sure to check out www.hencam.com and you will want a few hens of your own...have you seen the price of store-bought eggs these days? Nothing beats farm-raised, farmstead eggs...guaranteed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute with great recipes, December 23, 2008

This review is from: The Farmstead Egg Cookbook (Hardcover)
I bought this book due to another reviewer liking it, and with having chickens this year we have so many eggs I ran out of ways to cook them. Even if you just like to eat eggs this is a great little book. The pictures are wonderful to look at and its page after page of recipes with color photos. I found myself cooking things just because of the way they looked in the book. First few pages had some facts and I now know how to size eggs for my recipes as each of my hens lay different sized eggs.
Its hardback 6 x 7, so its doesn't take up to much space.

5.0 out of 5 stars concise and well done, November 25, 2008

This review is from: The Farmstead Egg Cookbook (Hardcover)
I am an egg farmer and the basket on the front cover looks just like my eggs and attracted me to this book. I have so many egg recipe books, I really didn't think I would find anything new in this concise book. However, there were great recipes and ideas - one of my now absolute favorite ways to make eggs came from this little book. You will enjoy it!

I was hoping there would be more information or stories about keeping the chickens. For a cookbook, it is quite nice and I know, I know, it say COOKBOOK, so I should not have expected more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice book, good photos, a little fancy for me, February 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I like this book for the photos and because of how the author writes it. She also wrote a beautiful childrens book about chickens. However, some of the recipes are a little too fancy for my husband and my liking. But overall I would recommend this to others.
