Customer Reviews

Once assembled, it doesn't fit back into the box.

Sorry to write this horrible review but these are my problems with it.

My daughter asked for hungry hippos and I saw this and thought it would be the same or close. The animals get stuck while you are playing if you push down too hard on the lever, they designed it so you could lock the animals by pushing the lever down all the way but while you are playing this really sucks. My daughter is 8 and she got so mad at it that I think it will go in the garbage. They also designed it so that you could store the balls under it in a little case but the case does not hold all the balls. Just spend the extra money and get the real thing.

I really don't like to leave negative reviews, but I hate to think of anyone wasting their money on this in an economy when every penny counts (for us, anyway). This game is just so poorly made and designed. The necks continually get stuck no matter how they are operated or assembled. The marbles get stuck in the animals' throats rather than go into the bins. Worst of all, it has to be unassembled again in order to fit it back into the box and then reassembled every time you want to play it. If this were easy to do, it wouldn't be a big deal, but to get the pieces off, they have to be yanked. If you have money to burn, then by all means, throw it away on this game; however, if you, like me, read these reviews to weed out the junk, then consider yourself warned. I hate to be harsh, but this game is junk.

My parents had gotten Hungry Hippos for my son to play at their house when he visits. His is newly 3 and loved it so much it, they sent Hungry Herd for Christmas. What a disapointment! When we opened it, the lamb was broken, not only was the spring that works the head placed in such a way that it was not able to operate but the head and neck fell off, unable to be reconnected. The plastic marbles do not all fit into the compartment underneath the game and we are going to end up throwing it into the garbage and ordering another one in hopes that it is in better shape. Having to throw away a brand new toy because of poor craftsmanship on Christmas morning was not a nice thing. Hungry Hippos seemed to just be better designed and made even though it is definately cheaper than it was when I was a kid.

I wanted a Hungry Hippos game, but found this game that was much cheaper and decided to get it instead. I should've realized there was a reason it was so much cheaper. This game is very low quality. The marbles get stuck in the animals' "necks". The levers on the animals get stuck. The game doesn't even sit flush with the table or whatever surface you set it on. I'm pretty disappointed, as is my little girl.

My sons, now in their 30's, loved to play Hungry, Hungry Hippo, so when I saw this game, I bought it for my grandsons, ages 6&3, who live on a farm. They played it for the first time @ my home and it was a HUGE disappointment! The levers kept sticking, so it was difficult to "eat" the marbles cause the heads wouldn't move. Platform is not flat on surface, rocks too much. Plastic is very poor quality. All around, very poorly made game. Took it back to the store very next day.

We only played this game for 10 minutes before the heads started sticking and we couldn't get through a game without having to stop to unstick the heads. The construction is cheap and we are packing it back up to return it. I'm disappointed as I was excited about giving this to my girls for Valentine's Day.

The levers stick and the motnion quality is poor with the animals, the pink one barely works, frustrating for a young child?

Not the same quality as the original hungry hippo. I would not recommend this version stick to the original game.
