3.0 out of 5 stars Helped a little
The adapter claims alot of good thing that will happen with your pet when they smell the hormone.
Not all of them were really effective and I still had a dog that acted a little too energetic. It worked better with the female than the male.
The separation anxiety wasn't reduced with mny 6 months old male dog.
Also, the difuser seems to be on the high...

(REAL NAME)
When we brought our puppy home he had pretty severe separation anxiety. He was great with us around but got very very stressed out whenever we left. I was home Thursday for a doctor appointment and sleeping, the girls put him in his crate to go to school and he was very upset. He would not calm down and whined, barked, etc. for a full hour straight before I got up and got him out. Then of course he was so worn out he just about passed out on my chest for an hour. He did it again when I was at the doctor, etc. I was getting worried about him so I did some research and at the Drs. Foster Smith site it mentioned a new product called Comfort Zone,
I picked it up Thursday afternoon and plugged it in Thursday evening. Within 10 minutes he wasn't hiding insecurely at my feet anymore but prancing and playing across the room. He slept through the night. He didn't even wake when I left at 5:00 AM for work Friday. When my daughter got home from school Friday he gave only one little yip of hello and then waited patiently for her to get settled and come get him! It should be called Magic Juice!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a relief...for both of us!!, June 30, 2006
I cannot say enough good about this product. For me, it meant Bailey would stay. I am the third owner of this 8 month old Pomeranian, but I hadn't known that when I bought him. Once they are in your heart, you want to do the best for them. I had tried many things, but this changed him into a new puppy. He had reminded me of a year old baby while they are cutting teeth...cried constantly, would only eat if I was with him, I couldn't be out of his sight because he'd just lose his mind, wanted held or touched constantly & didn't sleep. Since he gets into everything, for his own safety, I shut him in the bathroom while I'm at work. With this plugged in, he has calmed down, eats his food, and isn't crazy with fear when I release him. He's still excited to see me, but it's a normal dog kind of excitement now. I intend to get more of them to spread throughout the house. I'm hoping that after a few months he'll relax enough that he can be left alone in the house and yard, but at least with this product, we can be a family.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll never know if it would work on your dog until you try it., January 6, 2011
This review is from: Farnam Comfort Zone DAP for Dogs Diffuser, 48ML (Misc.)
I think it is ridiculous how this amazon page doesn't show this information. But here are some statistics to start off with:

Clinical studies show Comfort Zone with D.A.P.® helps reduce:
* Destructive behavior in 91% of dogs
* Excessive barking and whimpering in 65% of dogs
* Inappropriate soiling in 75% of dogs

So before I bought this, I obviously read some reviews first. For the most part it is all good, but then you got a few negatives. And many of the negative reviews often so 'don't buy', 'waste of money',... etc. But you have to understand that this won't work on ALL dogs (as you can see on the statistics I pasted above). Don't be discouraged by those negative reviews, because you really won't know if it would work on your dog until you try it.

As for my experience of this product...
I have a 10 week old husky. He has severe separation anxiety, hates being in his crate so he whines and vocalize ALL NIGHT. I bought the comfort zone diffuser and plugged it in right next to his crate. He went through the entire night without making a peep! I woke up in the middle of the night to let him out to use the bathroom and put him right back, and he doesn't even whine about it! It was AMAZING.

Things to note...
A lot of dogs can't sleep through the night because of pent up energy. Comfort zone does not serve as a replacement to release that energy, so you still have to give them exercise.

You won't know if this would work until you try it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It surprised me!, July 16, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was amazed when this product helped my 10-year-old Great Pyrenees survive her annual 4th of July fireworks phobia. I plugged Comfort Zone into the room where my dog hides during 4th of July week, and she actualy slept and did not hyperventilate or try to dig through the floorboards, as she has always done before. She still didn't like the fireworks, but she was irritated rather than terrified. It truly is like magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never have purchased any product that has worked so well!!, November 8, 2007

COMFORT ZONE DIFFUSER DAP 48ML
I have never had a puppy that was as difficult as my scottie, Duffy. He would not let me do anythig to him. He had an ear infection. I would try to put a muzzle on him since he was biting me when I tried to clean and medicate him, and he bit me while I was trying to do that. Sometimes he would just get "angry" at me or my two other dogs - without provocation. He spent much time in his crate for "time outs". He was even extremely difficult with the veterinarian and his staff. This little 12 week old puppy had to be muzzled any time they had to work on him. The vet suggested DAP (Comfort Zone). It was a new product that he had, and even he did not know if it worked. Duffy was scheduled for his first grooming the next day. I purchased the DAP, and plugged it in the wall immediately. The next day, when the groomer called to say she was done, she said he had been very good, especially considering this was his first grooming. We've never looked back since that day. The change in his behavior was a miracle. Literally, overnight the anger and nastiness were gone. He's a terrier, and he still maintains that wonderful terrier personality, but now he is also loving, affectionate and oh so funny. I can't imagine not having him around. That was four years ago, and he has never gone back to being Mr. Nasty. My groomer uses DAP now too. Also, no one that has ever been to my home has been able to smell the DAP. It is
just for the dog's sensitive nose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't live without it, October 27, 2007

shihtzulvr "shihtzulvr" (Gladstone, MI United States) - See all my reviews
My rescued Shih Tzu cannot live without Comfort Zone. He came from a puppymill in Misery (aka Missouri) and has multiple issues with things he perceives as being scary. As soon as the bottle runs out I can see his behavior change just as it changes when I put in the new bottle. Don't judge this product by a few people who's dogs it didn't help: try it for yourself. It's worth it if it helps your dog (and you/your family) to be happier. You'll never know if you don't try it! And do a google search on puppy mills-you'll be shocked and horrified at what you learn!

Also, the difuser seems to be on the high end heat setting ( can't change that) that you can actually see how the fluid dispenser turns brown from running that hot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Help- but not a cure, February 19, 2007
This product is great for dogs with mild to medium anxiety issues. Dogs with severe seperation anxiety often need behavior modification or sedatives. This product is not a "cure all" or a "miracle," but it is an AMAZING aid for working through anxiety.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finaly...Peace and Quite, February 24, 2008
I adopted Jack, our adult Jack Russell Terrier, about six months ago. Since he was rescued from the pound, he had some issues. After a few months things got better and he learned to trust me. The only problem left was his anxiety around loud noises. He hated our suround sound system and would go crazy any time we tried to put a movie in and watch it. I saw this at the store and thought I'd give it a go (especially since we had just bought a new Blu-Ray player and wanted to enjoy some movies!). I plugged it in that night and then we turned on our movies. He laid calmly in his bed all night! He actually even moved his bed over closer to the wall where I had it plugged in like he sensed that's where it was coming from. I'm so impressed that I'm going to buy a couple of the refills so I won't ever be without it. Also, the next day I also noticed that he stopped whining about wanting to go outside and chase squirels and/or birds. Usually if he sees something outside he'll sit there and whine until you let him out. Since plugging this in there has been no barking or whining while inside the house. I would recommend at least giving this a shot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful aid for my puppy!, December 5, 2007

Sebass (Howell, MI) - See all my reviews
I read all the reviews online about the Comfort Zone product and the simple truth is it will work for MOST dogs. Not all of them. So you take a chance when you purchase it. Plus, you need to constantly have it plugged in and they ask you to use it for 90 days to gain the full effects of the product. It only took one day to notice a difference in our puppy when we left for work in the morning. She barely whined and actually fell asleep in her area as we were walking out the door. When we came home she hadn't had as many accidents and actually took the time to use the puppy pads we had laid out. I am buying 2 more for the bedroom and our family room so the whole house where our puppy roams has adequate coverage 100% of the time.
