Must have for a trip to the Faroes...,

This review is from: Faroe Islands: The Bradt Travel Guide (Paperback)
I spent about 5 days in the Faroes last week (two of those days were in Torshavn). I stayed in a couple of Youth hostels during this time (I got the information from Proctor's book). While in Torshavn, I dined in a couple of nice restaurants and generally walked the streets and took in the sights. I also knew what to do to get from place to place and went with a good idea of cost of living thanks to the insightful information provided by Proctor. While I didn't visit some of the remote locations, I am quite sure in a future visit, I will turn to this book for guidance. I know that any information I might need to re-refer in a future trip will be in this guide because I did finish reading the whole guide during the flights. My experience with some Faroese at Reykjavik airport while waiting to board the aircraft to Vagar was as Proctor predicted it might be when dealing with the Faroese and I felt comfortable fully flying into the Faroes (I am East Indian by the way). Strangely, his advice about the general demeanor of the Faroes might apply to Icelanders as well.

great travel resource for an out of the way place,

Typical of many travel books this one also details establishments and also includes informative background of the islands. Because these islands are not yet frequently visited having a book like this is a great introduction and offers another point of view other than the Islands main tourism pages.
