Farscape-The Journey Continues, October 22, 2001

As a fairly new viewer of Farscape, I love the boxsets ADV releases because they are an excellent way to catch up on the beginnings of this terrific series. It is great that they are releasing every episode in order, unlike other shows that only release a few from each season(namely Buffy). And I am pleased to report that this is the best box set released yet.
Tape one contains: The Flax and Jeremiah Crichton. The Flax is a very good episode which shows continued character growth and even features a couple very humorous moments. It also features some lovely shipper moments for those who like John and Aeryn together as the two lunge for each other when they are convinced they are going to die. Jeremiah Crichton is a mediocre episode at best, but since the other episodes in this set are so good, it can easily be overlooked. And for those fans who love just watching Ben Browder(Crichton), then they will enjoy this episode.
Tape Two contains: Durka Returns and A Human reaction. Durka returns is a great episode which introduces Moya's newest member-Chiana, as well as the Nebari race. Durka is a great villian and this episode continues with storylines previously mentioned in the PK Tech Girl(Coll. 2) episode. Solid episode. A Human reaction is an excellent episode and one of my all-time favorites. When Crichton goes through a wormhole to return to Earth, he does not get the warm homecoming he thought he would. And when Aeryn, Rygel, and D'Argo join him there, Crichton must confront his divided loyalties to save his friends from being killed. But things are not what they seem on the strangely unchanged Earth. Terrific episode with great writing and acting, very important for future storylines. Also, the scenes between Crichton and Aeryn in the hotel are uncut on this video.
Tape three has: Through the Looking Glass and A Bug's Life. Through the looking glass is a great episode which showcases teamwork when Moya attempts to prematurely Starburst and ends up separated into 4 different Moyas with the crew scattered about. This episode is both touching and cute and shows how the escaped prisoners have become a family and rely on each other. A Bug's life is a very good episode with Crichton and Aeryn having to impersonate Peacekeepers in order to escape recapture, but the crew of Moya ends up transporting a deadly virus that can inhabit people without the host or anyone else knowing.
This is a terrific boxset with 5 out of 6 episodes being exceptionally good viewing. Farscape is one of the best scifi shows ever and this set showcases when the show started to really become the enthralling show it is today. This set has something for everyone--Romance, action, humor, and great special effects. Don't hestitate to buy this set, you won't be sorry.

Farscape Continues, August 17, 2002

As I write this, Farscape is well into its 4th season. I have known about the existance of Farscape from its beginnings. However I never bothered to watch the show because it looked so weird. Knowing that "muppets" (I tease as the show is produced by Jim Henson Entertainment) played two of the characters didn't help. But with everything else in reruns and SciFi showing new episodes, I thought, "What the heck." So I watched an episode and was surprised at how quickly I was absorbed into the show despite knowing almost nothing about it. Five episodes later I can say I was hooked. Since then I've worked on watching all of the old episodes and buying the VHS tapes.
This is the 3rd box set of Farscape's first season. Three tapes come in this box-set and each tape contains 2 epidsodes. These are shown in order.
Tape 1: "The Flax" & "Jeremiah Crichton";
Tape 2: "Durka Returns" & "A Human Reaction" ;
Tape 3: "Through the Looking Glass" & "A Bug's Life".
What marks this set of tapes is the entrance of the character Chiana who would go on to become a regular cast memeber ("Durka Returns"). Also, the characters continue to grow and continuity begins to play out quite well.

GREAT Sci-Fi, January 14, 2002

I bought both Collections one and three at my local video store (at half price) but they were missing collection two which I've just bought here in Amazon. If you love sci fi these collections are some of the better sci fi shows to watch. My children are hook and I couldn't pass up getting the missing collection. I've enjoyed watching these shows almost as much as my children. If you can afford it, buy all three collections at once. You get so hooked on them you won't want to wait to see all of them.
