terrific, even if you've never seen the show,
By A Customer
This review is from: Farscape: Music from the Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The music on this compilation is simply great, even if you've never heard of Farscape. I bought this before I'd seen any of the episodes they came from (I'd seen some later episodes not represented on this CD) and it really made no difference at all. This CD stands alone - as long as you like bizarre music of no identifiable genre that just, I don't know, it WORKS. Impossible to describe. But the CD is an added treat for Farscape fans, because I still think the first two seasons' theme was better than the watered-down version they use now.

Frelling great, but could have been even better,

This review is from: Farscape: Music from the Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Farscape is by far my favorite sci-fi series of all time and probably always will be, so when I saw this soundtrack I just had to add it to my soundtrack collection. The music isn't as grand as other sci-fi series or movies, but it's still great in its own right (And who really cares about that other dren anyways). I wouldn't suggest this soundtrack for non-farscape fans (if there is any out there), but for avid fans of the series its just great. The only problem I have with the soundtrack, and the reason I give it a four instead of a five, is that it is only the music from the first two seasons. In my opinion, the music from seasons 3 and four, which are not included on this soundtrack, is even better. Like the series as a whole, it only got better as it went along. If that music was included on this soundtrack it would be that much frelling better. So if you're looking for the Aeryn-Crichton love theme featured prominantly in season three and subtly in season four, you won't find it here. Nor will you find the excellently dramatic theme featured in the scene of the destruction of Scorpius' command carrier towards the end of the third season. For those looking for something with a little more pinash, look for the Peacekeeper Wars soundtrack. It's a bit more grand in scale and will probably fit the liking of the partial farscape fan.

An excellent musical space odyssey,
This review is from: Farscape: Music from the Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
"Farscape" has become one of my favorite science fiction television programs. The story of a human astronaut who gets thrown through a "wormhole" into a distant part of space, "Farscape" combines the conventions of epic space adventure with an irreverent pop-culture sensibility. The music on this CD, taken from the show's first two seasons, perfectly captures the wild, exciting, anything-could-happen spirit of this inventive saga. The first season's music is composed by the trio known as SubVision: Chris Neal, Toby Neal, and Braedy Neal. The second season's music is composed by Guy Gross. As a whole, the disc exemplifies the many moods and themes of the show, which is rich in action, romance, menace, heroism, silliness, and wonder. The disc opens with the distinctive "Farscape" theme music, a funky and exciting composition with weird, alien-sounding vocals. There are many other standout selections: the cool alien dance music of "Tannot Grooves" (from the "Thank God It's Friday, Again" suite); the thrilling, militaristic "Pilot Arrives" (from the "The Way We Weren't" suite); the goofy-sounding "Vorc Arrives" (from the "Beware of Dog" suite); and more. "Farscape" is a great show for many reasons: stunning visual effects, engaging characters, far-out plots, etc. But the outstanding music is certainly an integral component of the overall epic saga. This disc is essential for fans of sci-fi film and TV scores.

An enjoyable soundtrack,
This review is from: Farscape: Music from the Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
All good TV shows are defined not only by the quality of the storytelling, acting and directing, but also by the ability to get the little things right. One of those "little things" that can make a great TV show even better is just the right soundtrack--one that reflects the mood and tone of the series. Over the years, there have been a variety of shows that have given us superb, incidental music soundtracks. A couple that leap to mind are the music from the original Star Trek and Mark Snow's mood-setting pieces used in the X-Files.Joining those ranks is the soundtrack to the Sci-Fi Channel's best original program, "Farscape." I was a bit hesistant to purchase the soundtrack, but that feeling went away the first time I listened to it. This soundtrack is full of some of the best musical cues from the series 2-year history. (Unfortunately, the soundtrack came out before the superb season 2 cliffhanger, "Die Me Dichotomy" and thus, doesn't include the haunting music played at Aeryn's funeral...but the Sci-Fi channel has made it available on their web site as an .mp3). I admit I'm a recent convert to Farscape and this soundtrack has done two things. One is that it's made me remember the pure enjoyment I received watching those episodes I've had the pleasure of already seeing. The other is that it's made me anxious to see some of the other episodes that have incidental music tracks included on this CD. This is one of those CDs that will get into your CD player and it may be a long time before you take it out. If you love Farscape or just love good instrumental music, I highly recommend it.

Farscape CD ROCKS!,

This review is from: Farscape: Music from the Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This CD is excellent. If you have ever seen Farscape, you should know that it is VERY high quality music. The opening/closing theme song is incredible as I'm sure everyone knows. But this CD isn't just for Farscape fans, oh no. You don't have to love the wonderful characters like Chiana or Khryton to enjoy music that is close to perfection. To give you an idea of how great this cd is... read this: I love David Bowie. I have pretty much every CD he's made, and I keep his cd's on a seperate shelf than all the rest. But.. when I heard this CD... I instantly put it with the Bowie. Now that's big. I hope you enjoy this CD, and buy some Bowie while you're at it! ^_^

i have to admit that i 1st bought this CD because i'm a fan of this fantastic show. but as i listened, i felt totally mesmerized by the beauty and creativity of each track. when i close my eyes, i feel like i was transported aboard the moya and reliving every scene from the show. this is esp. true for track no. 11 - Family Ties. this track is absolutely great, not to mention the theme song (track no.1 and 23) that were also fantastic. Kudos to the composers. this is the best OST i've ever have... ...

Farscape is splendiferous!!,
This review is from: Farscape: Music from the Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
First of all, I absolutely love Farscape, the TV show. It is, by far the best Sci Fi show ever and I think that you should all buy the Farscape VHSs or DVDs. The music, just like the show, is fabulous. The composers have created a truly unique sound style that fits Farscape quite well and is enjoyable to listen to as well. The music style of Farscape is very different from what many people consider normal, and that's why its so great. Some personal favorites include the Theme from Farscape and Tannot Grooves. I highly reccomend this CD. It is very enjoyable and I love it! Buy this and enjoy! -Taylor, ...

Only for the dedicated Farscape fan.,

This review is from: Farscape: Music from the Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Outstanding 1st track, and the occasional good track elsewhere, but to be brutal, this is a CD only for avid watchers of the series, because each track is from a certain episode, they trigger memories. Unfortunately if you have not watched most of the episodes accross the series then the music loses its full inpact.
