Product Description

From the Developer

John Crichton is an American astronaut, catapulted by an experiment-gone-wrong into a distant corner of space. He's been taken in by a motley band of escaped alien prisoners on a living ship called Moya. They travel around the galaxy, constantly staying one step ahead of the evil, militaristic Peacekeepers.

In this adventure (set during the show's smash first season), Moya is in orbit around an isolated desert planet, recovering from damage. She is suddenly attacked and boarded by a Peacekeeper strike wing. Moya's crew scatters. Some hide aboard the ship; others are captured; and a few escape. Crichton, with the alluring Chiana, makes it off the ship in Aeryn's Prowler. They are shot down, and crash-land in the trackless desert.

Stranded, unaware of their friends' fates, Crichton and Chiana must find a way to fix their spacecraft and get back to Moya to free their friends. In the meantime, they become mixed up with warring alien factions, and uncover heinous conspiracies and terrible crimes that threaten the stability of the entire galaxy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Farscape will enjoy this game, January 15, 2003

This review is from: Farscape (CD-ROM)
I am a fan of the T.V. show and I have to admit that someone who is unfamiliar with Farscape will likely find themselves wondering what the allure of this game is. This game has really been geared towards fans of the show and seems to cater specifically to them.

Game play is good. The AI's for your team mates was a lot better than I expected. If you keep track of their behavioral settings, (run, fight, stay, follow, etc.) then they really serve to assist in fulfilling mission objectives. I have yet to have a computer-controlled teammate die on me. The missions are pretty linear since you're basically playing an [unmade] episode. A few players wrote about having trouble with the camera angles, but if you actually take the time to read the instructions, they are really very simple to use and are actually useful to the game play.

The use of the original actor's voices really makes this game stand out. It really makes the game feel like an interactive Farscape episode. It's a lot of fun to hear the way the characters interact and react to events in the game. (There's an Easter Egg I found in the first level involving Crichton finding "Winona" for the first time.)

If you're not a Farscape fan you probably won't find this game as enjoyable as someone who is a fan. However, if you are a fan of the show and also enjoy video games then you MUST buy this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, So Much Fun, September 7, 2002
By
This review is from: Farscape (CD-ROM)
I have to disagree with the other reviewer. Yes, some of the situations are difficult, but his criticism of the camera angles was unfounded because the game player controls the camera angels. I made it all the way through all the levels and had a blast, but it took me over a week to do it. I enjoyed the setup of the game, the characters' voices and one has to be knowledgeable about the strengths and weaknesses of the characters in order to make them work for you. The most fun I had was going to the town and buying the weapons and ammo. The first time through the game is mostly trial and error. I can't wait to do it again with some knowledge and the ability to make different decisions that will make the characters even more powerful. Sometimes I had to get away from it for awhile and think about my strategy. Then when I got back to it I could go on to the next level. Hours and hours of pure frustrating fun.

I love it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good base, much improvement needed, September 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Farscape (CD-ROM)
Camera: To close to the characters, move your mouse to close to the edge and it starts spinning.
Characters: Not bad, has the actual actors voices, they do not automatically switch weapons, and have the nasty habit of running off on their own. You primarly use Chricton and Chiana, D'Argo is used only once, Zhaan maybe twice.
Enemies: While worth credits, you can not walk 1 meter without being attacked by something. If you were hoping to battle peacekeepers, hope is in vain. Your main enemy is animals, the peacekeepers you do run into are all generic, though the Scarans are no where near as tough as in the show.
Weapons: There is never enough ammo, but your main weapons are the Peacekeeper squad weapon and the some of the Scaran weapons.
Story: Drags, simplistic tasks, the end is disapointing, don't expect it to be like an episode.
Map and Radar: The map has everything revealed, no fog of war, the radar isn't very good.

I was influenced heavily to buy this because I like the show. I was disapointed by the level of play, but they did establish the basics. Fix the camera, Use more of the characters, more (and better detailed) peacekeepers and weapon wielding enemies, less animals, have one of the shows writer's do the next script.
